The Texans won last night in the Area Championship game against the Gonzales Apaches. 40-14 was the final score, and I have to say - my heart, my head and my stomach appreciated this game far more than the game last Friday. Don't get me wrong, I love the sport and competition of it all, but the double overtime game just nearly killed me. We will either be playing Sweeny or Rio Hondo in the Regional Championship this coming Friday!
The first half of the game was actually pretty close. The Texans got on the board quickly but missed the extra point. It didn't take long for the Apaches to make it down the field and put 7 points on the score board. My first thought - was crap! Here we go again. By the end of the half the score was 13-7, with only a few seconds left, te Texans ran a remarkable play that led to a 60 yard touchdown!
Obviously the Texans came out to play for this game and it was really fun to watch. My mom had gone to pick up Isabella and Isaiah up earlier in the day, so as soon as we got to the stadium, Logan was off to play with them. Landry played with Izzy quite a bit, but she also enjoyed just sitting in my lap. My Memaw (my dad's mom) was there, as well as 2 of my dad's sisters, Susie, and Wanda and her husband Duwayne. My cousins Carlos and his girlfirend and DJ and his wife Amber (who is Afton's sister...wierd!) and their son Mark all came as well. we had a huge section for just our family alone, but it was really nice to get to see them all. Marks baptism is tomorrow, so even more family will be there!
Logan got to ride home on the bus with Isaiah and Papaw, and stay the night at my parents house. JR and I are going to Wimberley to work tonight at a football game that the Texans are hosting for two other play off teams.
Our Thanksgiving plans are still up in the air. We are waiting on the outcome of the Sweeny - Rio Hondo game that takes place today. If Sweeny wins, we will play in Victoria on Friday, and if Rio Hondo wins we will play in Corpus Christi. I have to say, I am cheering for Sweeny, at least then it wont be so far out of the way and we can still make it to Galveston for Thanksgiving! So...Go Sweeny!
