Houston Heat

Grrrr....So I am convinced that something is wrong with me, or the AC, or the stupid house we live in, or maybe a combination, but it is HOT! Yes, everyone knows that it is hot down here, but it is freaking miserable, I NEVER put my A/C below 75 and yet, I have had it at 70 for the ast two days! I cant wait to get the electric bill! OH GOODY! The sad thing is that the temperature in the house is still at 82 degrees! Are you kidding me??? I will say that at night I move it back up because it is the only time that the temperature inside the house gets below 75, and after sweating all day, 75 is pretty much FREEZING! Ha! Yesterday, I bought a fan for the living room...Hopefully, it will help cool down the living room so that I dont have to put the A/C at 70 anymore...I understand that it is still using electricity, but its gotta be better than the A/C.

My friend Nikki went in this morning to be induced. She was officially 41 weeks pregnant as of yesterday. I was thinking about it yesterday, and it seemed as though she has been pregnant for forever, but all of a sudden today it seems like it is all happening so quickly...ha! I am so excited for her and nervous all at the same time. I sent her a text around 11:30 and she said she is doing well. Crampy, and has to pee a lot, but doing well. Her contractions are every two minutes apart, which is a good sign of progression, I guess. I will send her another text in an hour or two (its 12:30 now) I know she probably has other people texting and I would rather not get on the nerves of a laboring mother! Haha
Nikki fully cooked, me a little over half way cooked!
Nikki a couple days before she gives birth!

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow at 1:00. I am not really all that thrilled about it considering I have my own scale at home and I know how much weight I have gained. I read today that the baby will be gaining on average about 6 ounces per week...thats almost half a pound! Considering how large I am, I am thinking she is gaining about 10 ounces a week! Well, I am off, going to go see my grandmother and make sure she is doing okay!

Proof of my "growth spurt"

Me at 23 weeks

Go "Ballo"

We are going to watch the Astros tonight! Logan loves baseball and seems to be looking forward to it. The game starts at 6:00 but JR is going up there around noon to get a spot in line! They are giving out Bagwell busts to the first 10,000 fans. Hopefully he didn't sleep in too long, and can still make it there on time! Logan and I will join him around 4! Logan has learned who "El Caballo" (Carlos Lee) is, and every time he comes on he yells Go Ballo!!!! Ha its pretty funny. Anyway, it will be hot, so I am praying for a good day. I pray that Logan doesn't do too much running and playing - we will see.

Horseback riding!

Last night I worked the concession stand at the Galveston County Youth Rodeo --will be there for the next 3 Thursdays so come out and join!!! Anyway, JR and Logan came up to visit and Logan got to ride his first horse!!! He had just woken up and was in no way dressed for the rodeo but here are some pics!

Update

Really quick...My grandfather was FINALLY moved out of ICU this evening!!! YAY! Back on the road to recovery!!! He is still in the hospital and will hopefully be coming home next week!! I am so excited.

Last Night!

Last night was a great night. JR, Logan and I headed to Galveston - we went to JR's mom's house and ate pizza - and I had a GIANT piece of Chocolate cake ---not for me, for Little Lady Luck!---Then Carol watched Logan for us, while we went to see The Hangover. We have both been very exctied about seeing the movie. Once we got there I saw NACHOS - which seems to be a week spot for me. Its something about the cheese - although I was dissapointed in the extremely salty chips and the fact that there weren't any jalepenos. Anyway, so even though I ate so much at Carol's, I went on to eat EVEN MORE! Ha oh well! The movie was hilarious! Definitely one of the top 5 most funniest movies I have ever seen! Maybe even the top 3! I honestly dont remember the last time I have gone to the theater....it has been a while though! I am really excited that Logan is getting to a point that I think I might be able to take him to see a movie. Every night before bed, we tuck him in, and put on a movie. He has yet to watch one beginning to end...but I am thinking of trying it out one day. Actually, that isn't true - he has watched an entire baby einstein - but they are only 30 minutes long - so it doesn't really qualify! Anyway, I am going to buy him a few movies today...the only he has is Shrek 2 and 3 (but that is 3D) and 2 Baby Einsteins and Happy Feet...so my plan is to get him some Little Einsteins and a couple of Disney movies! My sisters kids could watch movies from the time they wake up until the time they go to sleep, but I have never wanted that for Logan. While it is nice to sit them in front of a TV so that you dont have to do anything with them, I dont see that as parenting! I enjoy reading with him, and watching his little imagination grow. I like playing with him and jumping over obstacles and making a "reading tent" or sitting in the "imagination chair" We do all kinds of fun things - and when I dont feel like being super active, I take him outside and get in the pool. That way I dont have to use my head to much and I can relax a little while he plays. I play with him in the pool, but he can get out and play cars in the yard or in the shade tent. However, I do want to try the whole movie thing - It might be nice to get him to watch a movie in his room while mommy cleans the kitchen. I dont know, its a thought! I go back and forth on this. He can play with certain things for hours on end - baseballs, cars....so I am going to get the movie Cars and try to find something with baseball. It would be nice if the disney movie weren't so long. Maybe I can find a movie that is only 45 min- an hour. Or I could split the movie in half....The first half during the day, the second at night time??? I dont know, I just hate the idea of my kids sitting in front of a television all day! Any thoughts???

Excitement

So my neighbor and good friend is 2 days past her due date and is scheduled to be induced next tuesday which is very exciting. I am so eager to meet her little boy. I think its funny how people get so invested in their friends pregnancies (or maybe that just me!) Everyday, I just wait for a phone call telling me that they are in labor, or that they have just had the baby. Anyway, I find it very exciting! The only other person I have ever sat around waiting to go into labor was myself and my sister!
Very soon I will be waiting for another close friend of mine to have her babies - Dezi Lu! She is in heat! So I imagine that some where between 8 and 11 weeks from now we will have a bunch of newborn puppies! I am very excited and at the same time very nervous. We have been waiting for her to go in heat, but now after looking into the delivery process of puppies, I am scared to death. I am probably more scared about her delivery than I am of my own! On the upside - selling the puppies will be excellent extra money and couldn't come at a better time, especially with a baby on the way and an impending move! On the downside - she may have her puppies right before we move - how in the hell are we going to move with all the puppies???
Logan continues to get cuter and cuter - sweeter and sweeter - and more independent! He insist on doing things all on his own. He doesn't want anyone to help him! Most of the time I am patient enough to let him try over and over although sometimes, I am in a hurry and dont have the time. But for the most part I like letting him try things on his own. He gets so incredibly frustrated when he cant do something - I hate watching him get so upset about stuff. Sometimes if he is haveing trouble with something I will step in a show him how to do it, then undo it and let him try again. Amazingly, this works 80% of the time, the other 20% well, he can't do everything - which I try to explain. He also wants to be our little helper. When it comes to throwing something away - he always wants to do it - he wants to bring us a new diaper - go find his shoes, or whatever it is that we are looking for. His memory is far better than I thought it would be at his age. Yesterday, I let him play with my keys - usually a big no-no! - I forgot that I had done that until just now, I asked him where they were, and he went over to where he put them yesterday and brought them to me! WOW! I thought 2 year olds had a very short memory - I wonder if he will remember anything from this age when he is older - I know I dont have any memories before the age of 4. Anyway, he is talking more now too! I can't believe all the things he can do and the level at which he can do them ----THIS INCLUDES TANTRUMS!
We are going to the Astros game on Saturday - we are all very excited! I dont know who is more excited, JR or Logan! The game starts at 6 but JR is going to go up there and stake a place in line at 11:30. They are giving out these Bagwell things to the first 10,000 fans and he really wants to get one. Later in the summer they will give out Biggio thingys as part of the series...we will be there too!
2 more days until I am at 23 weeks - when the apparent 4 week growth spurt is supposed to begin! God help me. I was just thinking how it doesn't seem like I have been pregnant for 6 months now - well technically I am IN my 6th month...but oddly enough weeks 19 until now seem to have lasted for forever! Hopefully the next few weeks will go by faster! We will see - I am already dreading weeks 34 - 40....Time seems to crawl during those weeks!

CRAP!

So I got my usual daily update from one of the baby webistes I subscribe to and this is what I have to look forward to in the next couple of days and basically throughout my sixth month of pregnancy.
"This week marks the beginning of some serious weight gain. Your baby's weight in the next four weeks alone should double (and you may feel as though yours is too). "
I am hoping that this started a little early and that is why I put on so much weight over the weekend! A girl can dream!

Successful Evening--

So last night was a pretty successful evening - no I didn't get anything actually accomplished. My house didn't get clean, no problems were resolved, everything I was dealing with yesterday is still here today - BUT - I was able to have an easy going evening. I watched the bachelorette, then the news, followed by nightline. Then it was bed time. I put on a baby einstein movie for Logan and laid with him for a few minutes. I gave him a kiss goodnight and went and got in bed with JR. We started talking and he actually stayed awake for about half an hour listening to me vent about what was going on. It was so nice because he was REALLY listening! I told him to try to sleep a little lighter so that we would notice if Logan tried to get in bed with us. I woke up at 3:45 to go to the bathroom, I went in to check on Logan who was still peacefully sleeping in his bed. I got up at 7:30, went to bathroom, checked on Logan - still asleep. Then I woke up again at 9....scared to death because we haven't slept until 9 in several days. My fear grabbed hold of me, I ran to his room and couldn't see him - I thought, Oh God! He got out the front door...I took a few steps forward and he was side ways in the bed sleeping peacefully. I put the covers on him and went to the bathroom. I ate breakfast and started playing on the computer. At 10:00 he still wasn't up, and then came the fear that maybe had stopped breathing, so I went to check on him, and he was breathing just fine, and still asleep. I came back to the computer and started to think about why I all of a sudden consumed by so much fear that something was going to happen to Logan. I have decided that it MUST be some side effect of pregnancy. (more on this in a sec)
So the success was that I had a peaceful evening, I got to really talk to my husband, which didn't resolve anything, but made me feel better, and I got a good nights sleep (other than the peeing) and Logan slept in his bed all night long! YAY!

Now back to the fear thing...so this is very strange to me. When I was pregnant with Logan, I was scared that I would lose him. I thought every little thing meant that something bad was going to happen. I didn't feel his first kick until I was 22 weeks pregnant....weeks 18 until that time were aweful....I thought every day, that I had lost the baby. At week 20 I had an ultrasound and he was moving around in there, but I couldn't feel it. Finally, by week 22 I felt him for the first time....I would go through an all out panic if I went more than 2 hours without feeling him. I finally started to relax around week 38...Ha. Dont get me wrong...I loved every minute of being pregers with him, but I didn't have anyone to talk to about being pregnant...Not any friends that had a baby, I wasn't speaking to my mom or sister, so every little thing like round ligament pain or something small I thought was the beginning of a miscarriage. I guess you could say I was consumed with fear!
This time around I haven' been too concerned with little things...there was a point early in the pregnancy that I thought something might be wrong, but I saw my doctor and everything was fine. This pregnancy hasn't been all roses, between the morning sickness, weight gain, and other side effects that I wont bore you with....lets just say this time around has been DIFFERENT! While I loved everything about being pregnant with Logan, I haven't exactly loved everything about this pregnancy. It isn't that I dont absolutely love this baby girl, but I dont fear losing her, although I confess that I still get nervous when I haven't noticed fetal activity in an hour or two...I just dont take it to the level that I did when I was pregnant with Logan. SO why the intense fear that something will happen to Logan...shouldn't I be nervous or scared about my pregnancy with my daughter???
I find this very strange...much like I am finding many of my other symptoms and side effects strange. Intense fear - is a very strange thing!

So much..

There is so much going on right now...Some that I am so excited about, some that I am nervous about, stressed about, angry about, sad about, and some that fall into more than one of these categories. I am becoming a whale, and my back has officially started hurting, which sucks because I have been doing all these stretches in an effort to keep the aches away at least until the third trimester which is still over 5 weeks away. I am not getting a lot of sleep...and we seem to be playing musical beds in our house. Last night, Logan went to sleep in his own bed, but I woke up at 3:15 very uncomfortable. I quickly realized that I had very little room in the bed and when I tried to move JR over I realized that it was a tiny knee and elbow in my back and that meant Logan was in our bed!!! SO I gathered my pillows and went to his room...This morning when I talked to JR, he said..what happened last night? I went to bed with you, and woke up with Logan! Apparently, he didn't feel Logan crawl into our bed either...It's kind of scary to think that we are sleeping that heavily! I woke up hearing JR getting ready for work and went back to my bed to sleep with Logan. I keep having this horrible thought that he is going to wake up and walk out the front door, and then who knows what...get kidnapped, get hit by a car....i dont know. We have the child proof door knob things..but they dont really stop him...he can figure them out. I told JR we should go to Lowes and get the door chains, like they have in hotels, and put them at the top of the door so he cant even get a chair to reach them, but we haven't done it yet...It's a rent house and I dont want to get in trouble, but I dont think I am going to get any quality sleep unless I do it!
I have so much cleaning to do around the house, and I am completely unmotivated to do it. What I want to do is go to Humble, find a house that I love...come home, pack up all our stuff, and move this weekend! But, for many reasons, I cant do this!Grrrrrrr...I can't wait to go through all our stuff and throw shit away! There is so much stuff here that we dont use, some that I'm sure we have forgotten that we have. I look around and see so much clutter...I cant wait to get rid of it-and this my friends, is a side effect of pregnancy! At least for me, I did the same thing when I was pregers with Logan...I had a system for everything, I finally got SOOO organized, and I loved it..Then I had him and realized how hard it was to stay organized with a baby! Everything was everywhere, I walked around like a zombie for days...weeks. There were days that I felt like I accomplished something if I got my teeth brushed. I was usually in sweats and a T-shirt, and almost ALWAYS had baby drool or spit up somewhere on myself. WoW! I haven't thought about that in such a long time...there is so much I am remembering about becoming a new mom, maybe because I am about to have another one. I will have 2 kids under the age 3 (for 5 months). How am I going to do it? I will figure it out I am sure! I guess I am just to the point where I am so overwhelmed by ALL the things going on in my life...I just think if I could get one situation taken care of, then it will be one situation less to stress about! HA! I guess we will see!

Obsession

Well, my weight has officially become an obsession for me! I have never particularly cared to much about my weight. When I was younger I was incredibly skinny and I was always kind of awkward looking because I was tall with absolutely not an ounce of fat on me...and very little muscle. When puberty hit....things changed QUICKLY - I put on weight in all kinds of places!!! Even then, it never really bothered me. I guess I have always been comfortable NOT being comfortable with my body. Sure I might complain...but if it ever got to the point that I couldn't look in the mirror...I got my big butt out and started running, or walking, or doing whatever I needed to in order to feel better about myself. I have now gained a record breaking 15 pounds, and I am only 22 weeks pregnant. I was doing so well....and somehow I gained 3 pounds in 3 days....WTF! Growth spurts are one thing, but this is something all on its own. I DO NOT want to gain more than 30 pounds and I am already halfway there---What am I going to do??? It's not like I can lose weight right now....I am trying so hard to only gain a pound a week, but somehow it isn't working. I dont understand...I have been walking every morning...I have been eating better. What is going on???? UGHHHHH I have no idea what to do from here.

The new bed!

I still have to take some pictures, but Logan is currently napping, which is what I am about to go do. We went and got Logan's bed yesterday along with a matching nightstand. We went ahead with the queen size bed which makes Logan look so tiny! HA! He slept in it all by himself, without any tears last night! AMAZING! I think e was caught up in the fact that it was new! Hopefully that will last more than one night! I even got JR to fix the DVD player that is in Logan's room and I turned on Shrek 2 for him to watch. He was adorable...he just laid there watching until he fell asleep. I guess you can tell when he is tired...its the only time he is still enough to watch TV. HA! JR and I were actually a little jealous of Logan's new bed...I think it is nicer than ours and the headboard and nightstand is DEFINITELY nicer than ours. Now all I have to do is get him some bedding. He has sheets and a blanket, but they are just our spare set for now. I think we are going to do and Astros/baseball themed room for Logan, but we will have to wait for the next paycheck to be able to afford anything right now! Now I am in search of the perfect bedding for our Little Lady, and a house! I dont thing we will be able to move until August or Sept. 1 Hopefully we can move by August 1 so that I have plenty of time and money to really put together a nursery. Sept. 1 will be the latest that we move....GRrrrr....I really dont want to wait that long, considering I will be 8 months pregnant at that time...better than 9 months though! There is so much happening right now, and so much to be excited about....If I had the money and could figure out how to get around our 30 day notice, I would be packing my boxes and be out of here by July 1!!!!!!

House Hunting!

So we are FINALLY home! YAY! Logan and I spent the day in north Houston looking for a new home. We have a few prospects...but I doubt they will still be available on August 1. Grrr... Maybe there is a way to not have to give a 30 day notice....I am looking into it! Not that it would really matter, we still would have to come up with the deposit! Ughh....I hate moving and yet I cant wait to get out of here!
Going to pick up Logan's new bed tonight! Yay!

Baby name...new house!

So we THINK we have picked out a name for the baby...JR and I are trying it out for a week to see if it sticks...I am in love with it, and we tried it out on my parents who both liked it. We still have to tell his family and then I will share it with all of you! I am just so happy to have a potential name for my little girl!
It looks like we may be in the market for a new house. JR and I have gone back and forth on whether or not to buy the one we are in, and I think we have FINALLY come to the conclusion that the bad out weighs the good and it is just too much of a risk to purchase this house. I got to thinking about having Logan and another little baby in the house, and how much better it would be if I knew JR was only 20 minutes away from us instead of an hour and a half. He spends 3 hours driving to and from work every day, and that could be time he was with his family. There are SOOOO many different other reasons but hopefully we wont be changing our minds again...especially since I have already started looking for a house!
I am still searching for a bed for Logan. My mom suggested that I skip the twin bed and go ahead and get a full bed for him, so that we dont have to buy one in a couple of years...I am still not 100% convinced! JR said he had a twin bed the entire time he was growing up, so if he didn't outgrow it, I dont see Logan outgrowing one. Plus we could always buy him a full size bed in a couple of years and give the twin to his little sister. I dunno....I am still thinking on this.
I took my 22 week pictures this morning, but will have to redo them...some of them are blury, and I had to stop because I kept getting very light headed and dizzy, so I went to lay down with my feet up. It was very weird.
My grandfather turned a corner yesterday and was doing and looking much better, so my spirits are up in that department.
Baby girl Luck is kicking all the time....I am starting to wonder if she ever sleeps!

small update

Quickly...my papa is still doing OKAY...mediocre at best, but is still on the road to recovery. He is still in the ICU and they have but him back on the ventilator. He had aspirated several days ago (look that up, I dont want to have to explain it) they had to clean out his lungs and now he has pneumonia...but they cultured the bacteria, days ago because they kind of knoew this would happen and wanted him to have the most proactive antibiotics. Anyway...doing well, its just a waiting and watching game.

Some funny stories...My grandfather is a very strong headed man. He does things his way (the same way he's been doing it for 70+ years and sees no reason to change it, nor does he understand why people ask him to! After his surgery he was moved out of ICU and into another room. He was still on pain meds and a little disoriented so my mom and aunt were taking turns staying the night with him so he would see a familiar face. At one point, my mom was talking to my little sister on the phone...it was 9 at night....He turned and told her to "Get off that DAMN phone" it was past curfew! Ha. He also yelled at her for knocking over his wine glass because she was running in the house! Mom tried explaining that they weren't at home and she wasn't a little girl, nor did she knock over a wine glass..but it was only making him more irritated so she finally just got on her hands and knees and pretended to clean up the mess. He has been a pill...there are so many other stories I have heard from my mom and aunt...but I just thought I would share a few.
I was supposed to go shopping today....We are in the market for a twin bed for Logan, but I dont think it is going to happen today. See, when you have kids...and are pregnant...well, it turns out that little outings are more difficult than you might think. See, the thing that in order for me to run errands it has to be done first thing after we get up because by the time 12:30 hits....it is lunch time, and by 2:00 its time to lay down for nap time. So ifI wait until after nap time it means we will be in 5:00 traffic. He usually gets up around 3:45-4:00. Getting anything accomplished after JR gets home is impossible...because he has been on the road for 1 1/2 hours and wants to relax when he gets home...there is no getting him up once he gets down! Ha...

Good news...

Okay before I update about my grandfather...Yesterday was my birthday...JR and I have been talking about going to see a movie for two weeks now, but as it turns out we didn't get to. We couldn't get a babysitter. So he took me to Pei Wei...my favorite...MMMMM...and then we were going to try to take Logan to go see UP (A Disney Movie), but in the end we decided to come back home. Logan was doing great, but I was tired and stuffed! This is the second year in a row that my whole family was here for my birthday...technically they weren't here FOR my birthday but the point is that they were here ON my B-day!
This weekend has been hectic at best, My older sister and my dad came on Friday...Randi Beth stayed with us, my little sister got to Galveston late so she stayed with my mom at my grandparents house. The next day Everyone went to the hospital except me...I saw my grandfather on Friday, and was still a little shaken by it. JR, Logan, and I met up with my family for lunch in galveston, then stayed for several hours at my grandparents house. My sisters came over to my house and we went swimming with Logan....we had a pretty good day. My little sister, Vanessa, and Logan had some major bonding...it was so cute to see. She works at a daycare and has the early 3 year olds. She does a rotation, so she really works with all ages, but the early 3's are her main focus. On Sunday, we got up and headed to Galveston to the hospital. They had excubated my grandfather, he was having to work a little to breathe and his heart is still going a little fast...but removing the tube was a good sign. He still looked so fragile and was very hoarse but they also removed some other tubes which is very good. He will probably be in the ICU a few more days...the nurse said they would take it slow before moving him back to the floor, but he seems to be on the road to recovery. We all got to go in and see him, and he looked so much better..his color isn't all the way back, but at least he isn't gray anymore. I would like to go see him today, but Iwill probably have to wait until this evening, so that I can have a baby sitter. It is times like this that I wish he was in daycare! But I think we are going to make a trip to Galveston's Moody Methodist to see if they have a Mother's Day Out program..I am hoping they do...It would be nice to send Logan once or twice a week....if so, it will also become my "Errand Day" Ha! After we left the hospital, we went to my grandparents for lunch and then my sisters and my dad headed home afterwards. Depending on how well my grandfather is doing 3 weeks from now, we plan on going to Wimberley to visit my parents...but it all depends now. My mom is staying here for now...She has basically been here for 2 1/2 months...she goes home every once in a while, but usually she will go home on a Friday and be back on Monday...I dont know how she is still standing. I am really glad she is here though to help my grandmother.
I have some funny stories to tell but that will be another post! Thank you guys for all your support and all the words of encouragement...it really means alot! Michelle...look for another novel on myspace!!!Ha

more information

So I talked to my mom again, I asked what happened and she said she really didn't know. Basically, he wouldn't wake up this morning, apparently he had some sort of heart arythmia (I cant spell) and he was rushed to the ICU where his heart stopped. They performed CPR and shocked his heart to bring him back. I asked if he had woken up since then but my mom said that he was sedated and that the next 24 to 48 hours were critical. JR is leaving work at 2 so that I can go up to the hospital to be with my mom and grandmother. She said they are just sitting in the waiting room because they cant be in his room right now. She said that the sounds of their voices are making his heart race which could cause it to stop beating again. I need to go down there, but I also need to go to the grocery store to get stuff for my family who wil be staying with me, and I am going to need to cook dinner for them...I dont know how I am going to get it all done...I also NEED a shower. I am going to try to get dinner cooked before JR gets home, and just put it in the fridge...we can just reheat it later. I guess I will take a shower after that, and stop by the grocery store on the way home from the hospital. ITs the best I can do for now!

untitled

I am not doing very well when it comes to taking pictures. Yesterday my best friend Dana came down to visit. We had a great time, we were basically in the pool all afternoon. Around 6:30 we finally decided to get our pruny butts out of the pool. We decided to go to the dog track for some fun. Of course, I didn't take any pictures. We had a really good time, I ate way too much and I got some really good news that my grandfather was doing well and would hopefully be coming home on Saturday. I was very excited because we were told that they couldn't put a time on his recovery.
Today, I called my mom to see how things were going and I was shocked to find out that somewhere between last night and this morning, something went wrong. My grandfather took a turn for the worse and was readmitted to the ICU. My mom didn't give me any real details, so I will update this as soon as I know. I asked what she needed me to do for her, and all she said was to call my dad and tell him to get down here, so I can only imagine what is going on. I tried to call my sisters, my little sister is coming down after she gets off work tonight, and I couldn't get a hold of my older sister, but my dad said he would try to get her to come down, and that she had already said something about coming before all this happened, so I hope she is able to make it. At least for my mom's sake. I haven't spoken to her in almost 3 months, because she is apparently sooooo busy. I have no idea what is going on and it is driving me crazy, I dont know how severe it is, I dont know if I should start preparing for the worst or what I should do. Ughhh... I really need some details!

Good Day?

Today has already started off well. I got up at 9:00, I went outside and talked to Nikki's mom for a bit, then went inside and got on the gazelle. I worked out on it for a good 30 minutes then did some stretching and just as I was finishing up...Logan woke up! Last night went pretty well too. Yesterday I got side tracked and forgot about watching the clock...apparently I need to train myself as well as Logan. I took him to the room at 2:15 where we read a book and had some cuddle time. By 2:30 I told him it was nap time...by 3:05 he was asleep. The 35 minutes in between were pure hell! We got up at 4:30. Last night I finally had to put my foot down at 11:00 and tell JR it was night-night time, then I had to explain why we had to turn the lights off earlier for now on and that if I was going to establish a nap time, I was going to establish a night-night time as well. We discussed what time that would be and decided that we would all be in the room by 10:00 and do our book and cuddles and that lights would be out by 10:30. I know this sounds late for many of you, but it is what will work for us. No, my son is not missing out on any sleep, he is still getting the recommended amount for his age, it just may be at different times than others! Anyway, after the nap-time strugle and all the struggles the night before, I thought for sure last night would be more of the same. Instead, JR laid him down, and Lgoan cried for a few minutes before claming down. After JR got back in bed Logan got out of is bed and came over to me...HA! I picked him up and rocked him for a minute then took him to his bed. He laid there and I sat next to him for about 5 minutes, then got up and went to my bed. I could hear him moving aroung so I waited about 20 before I let myself drift off, half expecting the screaming to begin. To my surprise, there was nothing. He did wake up at 3:15 and I did the same...this time he wasn't so calm. After 5 minutes, I said I was through, JR got up and sat with him and 5 minutes later....he was out. I seriously think that he has a certain preference between me and JR....not that it has to be JR every time or me every time, but sometimes he only wants his dad and sometimes he only wants me. Anyway, we got a lot more sleep last night, and I am hoping for more of the same!
Funny things about Logan:
He is learning so quickly...in just a few days, he has picked up three new words
After accomplishing where his eyes, nose, ears, belly button, and mouth are we decided to expand....basically we ask, "where is your...." and just pick out something we see....This is what it has turned in to....He can point out his hair, feet, butt, wee-wee, nipples, cheek, and chin. JR's funny game is to ask Logan where his butt is, then ask where Mommy's nose is...HAHAHAHA Like it bothers me!
His favorite letter is B
His favorite word is ball
And for those of you who watch baseball...the little song they play, it sounds like a trumpet maybe, followed by the crowd yelling "CHARGE"...Logan loves this and although he doesn't say charge, he puts his fist up in the air! It really is funny. He also claps everytime someone hits the ball...even if it is the wrong team, or if it gets caught.
Sorry if this seems like bragging, that is not my intention at all...I am just truly amazed at how much he is changing! I love him so much, sometime I find myself wondering how I will love another baby as much as I love Logan. It just doesn't seem possible.

Struggles

Logan getting his towel

Ready to go in, Mommy

A few pics of yesterday..

As of right now, I have gained 0.5 this week. It is recommended to gain 1 pound per week, and considering I gained way to much weight last month, I am taking a little more notice at how much I gain per week. Also, I have gotten used to the luxery of staying alseep until Logan gets up...This is something that I have completely taken advantage of. I am very worried about how this sleep thing will go when the new baby comes. Ughhh...I hate saying the new baby (I wish she had a name!)... When Logan was born I 100% took the advice of others..."Sleep when the baby sleeps." There were times that I would try to get stuff done around the house, but I really tried to do that when JR was there to help either with the house or the baby. Logan is to the age where he only takes one nap a day and it isn't set in stone when that nap is...basically its just when he gets tired. So step one is to get him on a nap schedule, which means that when the baby comes, she will need to take a nap during the same time. Especially at first, because I can guarantee that I will need a nap too. Lately, Logan has been getting up at 10:00. I have been setting my alarm to get up at 9 so that I can go work out on the gazelle and eat breakfast...I have only done this for two days this week, but it really is amazing to get an hour to myself before Logan gets up. So I tried to set his nap time at 2, but we tried and tried and he wasn't able to fall asleep until after 3 yesterday. So we are going to try again today (wish me luck).
Yesterday, JR and I had a long conversation about Parenting, something we should have done a LONG time ago. This all stemmed from the fact that I woke up at 5:30 the night before last to find Logan in the bed with us....I was SOOOOOO pissed. I feel like I work so hard to accomplish a goal, and then JR goes and does something to take everything away. So last night was difficult to say it mildly. He cried and cried and cried...neither of us got any sleep. Then he would fall asleep and wake up after an hour or two, I thought I was going to kill JR for making things so difficult. I know I have talked about putting his bed in his room, but JR and I decided to leave it in our room because we are buying him a new bed and we thought it would be easier for him to start in his new room with a new bed...Only one transition instead of two.
Baby names:
Picking a baby name is proving to be more and more difficult. I want something that is modern but not the most popular. I would rather her not have the same name as three or four other girls in her class. JR seems to pick out names that are plain jane. Basically we cant really agree on anything yet. Then I have my family putting in their two cents....Ohhhh, I dont like that or ooooohhhh, what about this. Ughhhh! I love the suggestions, but ultimately it is up to JR and I. I have looked through the baby name books and websites, and there just isn't anything that stands out at me.....Any of you have suggestions? I would love to hear them!

My son is hilarious!

3 blogs in a day...I know, its crazy...Logan is getting so big and he seems to be developing new skills everyday. He has always been busy but it seems like this last week has been an explosive spurt in things he is learning to do.
#1 It is so funny that he isn't afraid to climb the pool ladder all by himself, but he is terrified of being upside down! When we go swimming he wants to climb it by himself and when I try to help he shakes his head and says, "No, no, no" (But I never leave his side, just in case). He will go under water and is learning to kick his feet, but would rather learn on his belly than his back.
#2 He is learning to dress himself. He doesn't always get it on the first try, and sometimes he will let me help, but only after he has tried several times. I am learning that when he tells me no, I should back off and let him try himself because its the only way he will learn.
#3 We are now locking the front and back doors of the house! He can now open and close all the doors in the house except one...He can open his bedroom door from the hallway, but not from inside his room! Ha...It is a little tricky though. This will sound aweful to many of you, but when it came to baby proofing our home...we didn't. My philosophy was that I was always in the same room with him and if reached out for something like an outlet, I would teach him that it wasn't something to play with. This always worked for me...we always put anything that could cause harm up high so he couldn't get in to it. When he was about 15 months old I finally broke down and bought some cabinet locks because I was so tired of him getting out all the pots and pans, which leads me to ...
#4 He has learned how to remove the cabinet locks!
There is so much more, but the reason I started this blog was to tell a story...Today, we ate lunch and went outside to play and go swimming. We played, we swam, we had fun. Just when I decided I was going to try to get in some swimming (real kicking and arm movements as opposed to frolicking) I got my head under water and I look up to see Logan coming to me. He reached over to the chair and grabbed his towel...I was curious to see what he was doing so I stayed in the pool and watched. He wrapped the towel around himself and walked to the garage door. He turned and looked at me and said, "MAMA". I quickly got out of the pool and started to dry off. Of course the longer it takes me to gather my stuff and turn off the radio the more imatient he becomes. He is now yelling my name, "Mama....Mamma.....MMMMMaaaaaammmmma" while banging on the door. I finally get over to open the door, I take off his swim suit and put in on the dryer, and open the door to the kitchen. He rewraps the towel around himself, goes inside, grabs a shirt from his room, and a diaper from the kitchen and brings them to me. While I am standing in the kitchen he points to the fruit loops and makes his little noise. I pour him a bowl and help with his shirt and put the diaper on him. He is so smart and is growing up WAY to fast. I find myself thinking, what happened to my little baby? Then I remind myself that in just a few short months (that will seem like forever) I will be starting the process all over again. I just have to remind myself that when it somes to Logan I have to remember that he is growing up, and I can't go back. When it comes to my daughter I have to remember to enjoy her being a baby because it doesn't last for long.

Boy vs. Girl

Isn't it funny how Nikki's belly points slightly downwards and mine is going upwards!!! hahaha

Some pics of the belly

So here is another comparison....I am quite large for only 20 weeks...I just took the pics this morning, so technically I am 20 weeks 3 days..but whatever! Here is a picture of my friend Nikki when she was 20 weeks, a picture of me, and a picture of some random person at 20 weeks.

Pregnancy weight!!!

Yesterday I had to run a few errands before heading down to Galveston. As the weight is beginning to pack on, I realized that it was time for a new bra. I had lost some weight before I got pregnant and I was down to a size C, so because of the pregnancy and the weight I have been putting on I have been flowing out of my bra! I have been wearing sports bras a lot lately...so I thought it was time to get a new one. I bought a bra, size D, and I was in a hurry so I didn't try it on...I got down to Galveston and went swimming with my mom, my niece and nephew, Logan, and my aunt and cousins. We had such a great time, afterwards we went to my grandparents house...I changed clothes, and was oddly excited to put on my new bra. My excitement ended one I had the darn thing on...turns out, I should have tried it on, I needed a DD. After thinking about this a little more...I have decided that this is actually great news because maybe that means that most of my weight gain is in my boobs!!! HAHAHA Hey, a girl can hope right?

Now for the hard part. The course of my grandfather's cancer treatment has changed. They originally thought they would start his chemotherapy and if all went well, they would do surgery sometime around Christmas. They have now decided that they are going to the surgery followed by the Chemo. No one is really telling anyone what is truly going on. Apparently, my grandfather is having surgery on Tuesday, and there is a chance that he wont even make it through the surgery. He will be in the hospital until he recovers, but no one can say how long it will take him to recover. My grandmother is convinced, that this surgery will cure him. She thinks that they are going in to remove the part of the colon that is cancerous. She thinks that after that, he will be fine. What they are really doing is, they are going in to try to stop the bleeding...as I have mentioned before, he is conitnuously losing blood, and for the longest time the doctors couldn't figure out where he was losing blood from. This is what makes the surgery so difficult...he could very easily bleed out on the table. The reason they have changed the course is because they dont think he will be strong enough to sustain a surgery after chemo. I asked my mom for some more information, which is when I found out that he has end stage 4 cancer. Even with the course of treatment they are doing, curing the cancer isn't an option. They are only trying to prolong his life. If he chose to forgo the surgery and do nothing he would have about 6 months to live. If the surgery goes well and chemo goes well, he is looking at about 2 years. While it isn't my choice to make, nor can I really say what I would do in the situation, my mom and I both agree that 2 years isn't worth the pain and agony of going through chemo. We also both agree that we dont believe he will make it through chemo. I am so sad. Please, everyone think good thoughts that the surgery goes well. If we can just make it through this next week, we can deal with some of the other upcoming events.

Pregnancy Brain

OKay so my post for today was actually supposed to be an email to my friend Nikki...I dont know how I got my blog and email confused but somehow....It must be the pregnancy brain!

20 weeks...

Yesterday after trying on tons of pregnancy clothes, I was unable to find a single thing that I liked...as I was leaving the dressing room irritated and annoyed by how much time I spent trying on clothes and virtually walking away with nothing, I passed the Bella Bands and decided to buy one. I remember you wore yours for a while and I think you liked it...So my question is...How did you put it on? Over your head or did you step into it and pull it up? I am scared that if I pull it up like a skirt, I wont be able to get it over my ever expanding ass!
I still can not believe that I have gained eight pounds...I know that I am pregnant and that I should be gaining weight, and technically I am on the right path as far a weight gain goes...but that is overall weight gain. I gained 8 pounds in one month!!! AHHHHH! Let me explain. I started off at 147(March) the next appointment I was 143 (April), then in May I was back to 147, and at my June appointment (yesterday) I weighed 155. So granted it is a gain of 8 pounds throughout the pregnancy but it is also 8 pounds in one month. Grrrrr....I am going to have to be really careful this month. My first step, I am going to do more swimming....also I set up my gazelle and am determined to do at least 3 miles per week, and finally I am going to have to eat a little better. I eat pretty well now....it just the snacks that I screw up on...and my stupid cravings. LIke right now, all I want is a lemon bar! I am going to the store today and I AM getting the ingredients to make lemon bars again...I will just have to eat smaller ones...or maybe I can make just half a pan....Especially since my pregnancy is not helping ANY of lose weight!!!

Bad weather blues!

I decided to run a few errands today before my doctors appointment. I ran to Babies R Us to look at some baby stuff, I could really use some inspiration for the baby's room. The kids will be sharing a room for a while so the room needs to be boy/girl friendly. The hardest thing is that Logan's room is already set up for him...he has so much sports memorabilia in his room and I dont want to completely change what is already his....but it is definitely a boys room. I dont want his part of the room to be girly, but I dont want her part of the room to be boyish. It is very hard to separate and to come up with ideas...I am not at all creative.
Next, I ran to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things, but mainly so that I could scan my ultrasound pictures and post them. The stupid scanner thing got all screwed up and I had to leave before I could get the CD because I was going to be late for the doctor.
The appointment went fine, I was a little irritated because I was waiting so long for the doctor to come into the exam room. I was glad because Logan had just fallen asleep in the car, and I thought I could get through with the appointment while he was still asleep...nope he woke up about 2 minutes before she came in! I was so overwhelmed with Logan that I forgot to ask my two main questions....ughhh...now I will have to wait another 4 weeks to get them answered. Oh well, they aren't life threatening...obviously! Everything was fine, except for the fact that I gained more weight than I wanted to. Overall, I have gained 8 pounds...which isn't aweful, but its more than I wanted...I really dont want to go over 170, but POSITIVELY no more than 175! That will put me at a 30 pound gain. My blood pressure was 108/58 and the baby's heart rate was 158. Everything was fine.
Afterwards I went over to target because it was raining and I didn't want to drive in the rain. I got a couple of tank tops and a summer dress. Nothing major, although I did try on oodles of clothes and came up with nothing! Ughhhh! I tried on some maternity stuff and wasn't at all impressed. I seriously need to get maternity clothes pretty soon, I am only going to get bigger and although the tops I have bought recently have some room for growth, I seriously doubt they will last until the 9th month. I also looked around the baby department for more inspiration and some ideas...every time I thought I figured something out, something else popped up that brought me back to square one. Anyway, that was about it...I am ready for the sun to come back out...I want to get back in the pool!

Big Dog Scare

Major event today! Logan and I went outside today we were having such a good time in the pool when Logan started saying, "Dexter" (Our dogs name) and was pointing to our neighbors yard. I looked up and saw two pit bulls looking at us. I was a little shocked because I know for a fact that my neighbor doesn't have any dogs. Before I had a second to think about the situation, the tan female dog jumped over the fence into my yard. I went to the side of the pool and grabbed my cell phone and turned just in time to see the male pit bull jumping over the fence. Great! Now there are two Pit bulls in my yard and I am trapped in the pool with my son. Now I am not one to jump on the "Pit Bulls are Evil" band wagon, and had it been just me, I would have most likely waited to see what they were interested in and gotten out of the pool when I was convinvced that they weren't going to harm me. The thing is, I had Logan with me, and I wasn't willing to take ANY chances! I called JR to ask what I should do...I didn't want to call 911 due to the fact that it wasn't an emergency, but I didn't know the animal controls number. I was doing okay until the dogs started circling the pool and I couldn't keep an eye on both of them at the same time. Then the female dog was on her hind legs with her front paws on the top of the pool....thats when the panic set in.... What if they get in the pool with us? I started splashing her to get away and then the male dog was doing it too. I splashed him too, and called 911. As I was hanging up the female dog jumped back over the fence and started walking off, but the male was still hanging around. My head was spinning....I was trying to think of a safe way of getting my son out of the pool and into the house. I thought if the dog goes to the back of the yard, I might have just enough time to get Logan and run into the garage and in the house....Then the damn dog went in my garage...my only entrance into the house was now my front door which meant I would have to somehow get Logan out of the pool jump the fence with him in my arms, go around to the front yard and in through the front door. This wasn't going to happen, so we just waited. The police department called back to ask if I could come to the front door...I said no, I was stuck in my back yard. After another 5 moniutes or so the dog FINALLY jumped the fence back over to the neighbors yard and I took Logan inside quickly. I went out to talk to the policewoman, who said that she was waiting for animal control...then she got in her car in order to follow the dog down the street. About 10 minutes later I walked outside to see if they were still there, and the animal control guy was loading up both dogs!
Now, do I really feel that the dog would have harmed me??? Not really, they weren't growling or barking, even though my dogs were going crazy. They, in no way, seemed malicious, but having Logan with me, I just couldn't take the chance. As the animal control guy was loading the dogs, my suspicions were confirmed...he was petting them and didn't even use the neck loop thing....he just simply picked each one up and put them in the truck. Hopefully everthing will work out for the dogs..one of them had a collar but no tags (the female), the male had no collar and no tags. While I feel badly about sending them to doggy jail, I also know that if it wasn't me it would have been someone else. I am sure that they belong to the same owner. Maybe this will be a lesson to the owner that his dogs can EASILY jump over the fences in our neighborhood and he should find another way of keeping his dogs in his own yard. I hope I did the right thing!

pictures and ultrasound

So today was the big day...The anatomy ultrasound. We are having a little girl. The baby measures 6 inches and 10 ounces. Everything else was normal....more on that on my baby blog.
After we got home, JR hung out for a bit before heading to work...while he was getting ready to leave I was slathering on sunscreen for Logan and myself. The minute he walked out the door, Logan and I headed to the backyard for some fun...Oh wait, before JR left we checked the chemical balance in the pool...we shocked it last night and wanted to make sure it was safe for swimming....then I cut JR's hair..>AHHHHH! I have never done it before, I used the clippers and everything, I was so nervous because JR is very picky about getting his hair cut. I think I did a good job for my first time..with the exception of one thing that I shaved of that I wasn't supposed to...OOPS! Lesson learned....when JR got inside he was pointing out every little thing that I did wrong..grrrr....he was a good sport about it after realizing how much he was hurting my feelings. I dont think it looks that bad!
Anyway, so Logan and I spent the day in the pool, we even had lunch out in the tent! I have so many errands I could be taking care of, but I dont wanna!!!
JR was amazing yesterday....I went to community service and asked if he would pick up while I was gone...HE DID! I came home and was so surprised...all I wanted to do was get in the pool, but instead I decided to do some house work. Everytime I asked JR to do something, he got up and did it. Laundry, sweeping, the bathroom...no problem! Logan finally went down for a nap so we took the baby monitor (that we haven't used in forever) outside with us, and JR and I got in the pool. We had such a good time. I felt like a kid and I was completely giggly!!! We went in before Logan woke up and had a pretty good evening...Why can't every day be like that?
I also stopped by the park yesterday on my way home to hang out with Nikki and Travis. They had a get together as sort of a last hurrah before the baby comes...We found out late last night it was a diaper party...I had no idea...oops! SORRY!
Here are some pics...I need to get some others, but its hard to do without another adult!

Checking it out!
