Whew!

Hmmmm... where to begin -
Thanksgiving was wonderful! We went to Galveston and hung out with my family. I love being around all of them. It was exactly as it was supposed to be...except that there wasn't enough dressing...I went back for seconds and it was gone! Ughhhhh....there was a whole other pan but I didn't want to be the first to dig in, so I waited around for someone else to do it....NO ONE did! Grrrrr. LOL anyway after eating we watched football and sat around talking. It was perfect, everyone ooohed and ahhhhed over Landry. I loved it!
Friday JR and I went and did some shopping....and we bought our first Christmas Tree!!! LOL I laugh about this because I can't believe it. We didn't do a Christmas Tree last year...I didn't really see the point since we wouldn't be there and I didn't want to spend money on it. The year before that, we lived in the apartment off Nasa and we had a little 3 foot Christmas tree that was fake! The year before that we were in the apartment in Galveston....anyway...we bought our first Christmas tree....It is a beautiful LIVE tree that we picked out with the help of Logan! It smells so good! I didn't think about it until after we got it home but you are supposed to be careful about live trees with new babies because of allergies....luckily it isn't an issue! I often forget about allergies because I have never had them. I mean I get the occasional watery eyes, headache, and stuffy nose thing every once in a blue moon....but as for serious allergies - not me!
My Dad's football team also won on Friday advancing them to the Regional quarter-finals! This is very very exciting....they play this friday in Waco, and I would love to go, but money is tight! Grrrr....
The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and playing our new wii!!!! I love it! We spent a little bit of time cleaning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,....and my house is clean!!! YAY! For the most part though we were either playing Tiger Woods golf or Wii fit!
It was a great 4 day weekend!!!
p.s. Landry weighs roughly 11 pounds!!!

Laziness!

I have been so lazy lately...my house is getting out of control and I know I should be cleaning instead of blogging, or playing on Facebook, or reading my book, or watching TV...but I just dont want to. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have traveled for the last three weekends in a row, and Tomorrow morning we will be going to Galveston...its only about an hour and a half but still I am so sick of being on the road! I desparately need to go to the store...I just put on my very last breast pad and it is imperative that I go get more other wise I will leak...but I just dont want to get up and get the kids ready and get myself ready...man! What to do what to do...I guess I will have to get up eventually! I wish I had a personal shopper!

Happy Early Thanksgiving Blogworld!

Perfection!

Pictures I took this morning!

In 2 days my little girl will be 6 weeks old! I am having such a hard time with this! A lot of moms would be getting everything ready to go back to work - I seriously cant imagine this! I know that JR and I talked about me going to work when she was 6 weeks old, but I am so thankful that it isn't a necessity. Sure, it would definitely help financially, but it isn't imperative! I am in awe of those who do go to work with little ones. They are incredibly strong women and should be told so more often, in my opinion. Dont get me wrong, it isn't always peaches and cream staying at home..but I am thankful none the less!

As I nursed Landry at 7:00 this morning I completely took in all of it. How incredibly perfect she is. How sweet and innocent and perfect. There are no other words to describe her except perfection. She is just starting to get some pudge on her tiny little thighs, and her little butt is starting to round. Her eyes are so blue and when she smiles it is as if the whole world stops just for her. She is an angel. Her hands are so little and I cant help but think of the future. There is so much I want for her, for us. My mother and I never had the best relationship growing up- It is sooooo much better now but I look at our relationship and wish for something different with my own daughter. On the other hand, my mom and my little sister have always had the BEST relationship and I want that for Landry and I. Anyway, I just wanted to say how thankful I am for my life and how amazing it is!

Life is Good Today!

Okay, so it is only 10:00, but life is good today. "Ask and ye shall receive," (a famous quote from the Bible) is apparently true. I worked hard to keep Landry awake more during the day, and it paid off...she slept for 3 1/2 hours between each feeding. Usually it is somewhere between 2 and three from the start of one feeding to the next...but last night I got 3 1/2 hours of uninterrupted sleep..TWICE! It was so needed. after her 7:00 am feeding I didn't know if I should stay awake or try to push for a little more sleep...I got back in bed! LOL This time she only slept until 9:15 but still....I got to sleep in until 9:15 YAY. I woke up singing!
It truly is amazing what a little bit of sleep can do for you. I am revived. No more complaints! I have a beautiful house - although the floors could use a cleaning - I have a hard working, good providing, sometimes selfish (but aren't we all), loving husband - and two beautiful children that bring smiles to my face every day! They are precious angels.
Logan is doing wonderful at potty training which I still haven't pushed....but he gets up in the morning and takes off his own diaper and goes to the potty! I am kind of just sitting back and letting him do it on his own but I guess I will have to crack the whip soon....but I may not have to really do anything at this rate...he seems to have it down. He can take off his own pants when he needs to go...I am very proud.
I have about 12 pounds that I still need to lose to get back to pre-pregnancy weight...for me...it isn't so much about the number as it is how I look. Before I got pregnant I was losing weight and even though I knew the pounds were dropping I didn't really realize what I looked like until now...I have pictures of when I was 4 weeks pregnant....and I was actually pretty skinny. Funny how I didn't realize it back then. Anyway, I am still about 2 months away from being able to do any kind of sit-ups due to surgery, but JR and I are both trying to lose a few pounds...hopefully a few inches too. He still has his membership to Bally's so he started going on Monday and taking Logan....The plan is to go Mon - Wed. - Fri. and then go to a local school on Sat. as a family and walk on the track while Logan plays on the field. Anyway, while JR and Logan are at Bally's I get on my gazelle at home. Landry either sits in the swing or I "wear" her in a carrier. Both times JR has taken Logan though have been ugly....the first time the daycare people waved JR down because Logan wouldn't stop crying....and yesterday, JR didn't even get to work out because he couldn't leave the daycare room. I told him he just needs to drop him off and walk away...but oh well. So I guess I am going to start keeping Logan here...which makes it hard for me to work out....but I may be able to get it done in the mornings before Logan gets up....we will see!
I am leaving town tonight to go to my parents, and another Friday night football game. I am not really sure that I even want to go...I dont want to be on the road and I dont want to be away from home...but I already told my mother I was coming and she is looking forward to it, so I guess I have no choice! Oh well...I will enjoy it no matter what! Today's gonna be a good day....Today's gonna be a good good day!

FYI: Complaining Involved

Okay...a real post...just to let you know there will be some complaining involved!
So Landry is 34 days old. Things are going well. She just started sleeping in the co-sleeper 4 nights ago and is doing fine. No big issues really. Logan has slept in his own bed the lst 2 nights...great stuff!
Most of you know that I am nursing Landry. Everything is going well and has been, I truly love the bonding that I get from it and I love knowing that she is getting the very best. There are some definate down sides too, but I have decided that the good outweighs the bad and I am going to do it for as long as possible...or for as long as I can stay sane. After 33 nights of feeding her, I have started to get a little run down. To make things worse I started getting a sore throat, headache, and my ear has been bothering me. Clearly I need some extra rest.
Enter Complaining---
Last night, I fed the baby, then went to pump, then went to sleep...I put some fresh breastmilk in a bottle in the fridge, so whe she woke up for her first feeding I asked JR to go get the bottle...he did...with no complaints...BUT when he got to the room and tried to hand me the bottle, I explained that HE would be feeding her so that I could get some sleep. He went ballistic. He was yelling about it not being fair and now he wasn't getting to sleep....I was shocked and hurt that he could be so selfish. I understand he has to get up early to go to work...and I probably should have just stuck it out until the weekend...but I am going out of town this weekend and he isn't coming with me...which means I still wont have any help. I mean really??? 1 night out of 33, am I really asking for too much? Plus, its not as if I was asking him to take her the whole night...just one dang feeding so that I could sleep for 4 hours straight. I dont know...more than anything I am hurt by this. I was angry at first but, I am just so upset. I feel like I dont matter to him. The last two days I have done so much, from making breakfast (blueberry muffins and apricot scones - from scratch) to making dinner, doing dishes, laundry, taking out trash, cleaning the living room every night....I just thought I might deserve a little break. I guess not. I understand that a mother's job is never done...I get it really I do, and I shouldn't be complaining because maybe JR has had some really hard days at work and he is overly tired too. I dont know...maybe I am the selfish one for being upset! Who knows, all I know is, whether its right or wrong, my feelings are hurt.

Now...Part of the reason I am so tired. - Landry is really good...SERIOUSLY. She sleeps a lot, which is very helpful, but at night...she sleeps for about 3 hours and then wakes up to feed...but starting at about 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning she starts waking up every 45 minutes....This is very hard on me. Again...I shouldn't complain, most people get up before 6 every morning and go to work. So really I should just be happy that I get to sleep until 8:30 every morning, even if I do get woken up constantly...and again...this really hasn't bothered me until now and I am sure that the only reason it is bothering me is because I am so tired. I just feel like, if I could just get some good quality sleep...maybe a good 4 or 5 hour stretch, I would be rejuvenated enough to go another 33 days....and maybe by then she will be sleeping for longer periods of time!

Or maybe...I just want too much!

been a while

So its been a few days since I have posted a blog. So in order to catch you up...
Friday - I went to my Dad's football game with Dana last Friday. I took the kids..I had hoped it wouldn't be too bad. Logan was such a pill! But in his defense, he was on the road for over 8 hours. He sat behind me and cried for forever...it was so sad. He finally fell asleep only to wake up calling Mama, Mama, Mama...I had to reach behind and hold his hand until he fell back asleep! The football game was amazing, we played Glen Rose (which is where I graduated from). We won in the last 16 seconds of the game!
We play Iowa Park this weekend (which is where I grew up...6th grade - junior year, and my older sister graduated from). I am going to take the kids to my parents on Thursday and we will stay the weekend.
On Saturday, we did a whole lot of nothing...we didn't get home until after 4 a.m. so we spent the majority of the day sleeping. We did take a trip to target and do a few other things.
Sunday, I did grocery shopping and seemed like I was busy all day long!!!
that evening we went to eat at Steel City Pizza. We met up with Jason, Lisa, and Davin and as we were leaving Davin said he wanted to go with Uncle JR....so he came home with us and stayed the night! It was Logan's first slumber party! It went really well!
Yesterday, we had lots of fun...I made blueberry muffins from scratch, we all went outside in the COLD weather to play football...well except Landry...I left the door open and she staying in the living room!
I have so many errands to run...and I was all about getting them done yesterday, but got too busy, and today I am just too lazy! LOL
Anyway, thats about it!
Landry is letting me know she is hungry...OH yeah, she is sleeping in her bassinet now...more on that later, I gotta go!

Weekend plans

I am getting ready for yet another football game!!! Woohoo...Dana is on her way to the house and we are going to be brave and take the kids to our Dad's football game! JR is going to go have a boys night with some friends...and if all goes well, I am determined to have a Margarita!!! mmmmm!
Tomorrow we are going to The childrens festival, I hope that it is fun for Logan...we will see. I am having a "mother/son" day with Logan on Sunday and we are going to watch Disney on Ice. So exciting!
Then on Thursday we are going to meet JR at the Children's museum. We have never been so I am excited to go. I got a really cool magazine at the doctor's office...It's called Houston Family Magazine, and they put all these different things that are going around Houston. So If you are interested you can look it up and request a free copy. Anyway, there are a bunch of things that seem like fun that are free to do...Such as, Every Thursday night is Family Night at the Health Museum and at the Children's Museum...It goes from 5-8...who knew!?!
Also on this Sunday is Free admission at Fall Festival...There is all types of events, from Pioneer Day to different places that hold story times...It really is cool, and I look forward to taking full advantage of it!
Its gonna be a busy weekend...hope you all have a good one!!

Another day!

Last night was HORRIBLE! Something was going on with Landry...I fed her at 11:30 then I went to pump...by the time I went to get in bed she was upset...she was crying and I thought that was weird...she rarely ever cries, unless she is hungry! so anyway, she kept crying, we tried everything. JR slept while I took the first shift, then after about 45min, I couldn't take it anymore. JR took over so I could try to sleep, he thawed out some milk and tried to give it to her...but as I said yesterday, she doesn't do well with a bottle. So JR tried using a different bottle...thinking maybe it was the type of nipple...that also didn't work. He put her in the swing...no go...he walked around with her, he rocked her. Then he decided it must be the milk...It was pumped back on Oct. 18 so it still had colostrum in it...so he decided that maybe Landry doesn't like the colostrum....so he poured it out and tried new milk. Finally that started to work...although I am skeptical of the TRUE reasoning! I think that after all the crying and the fact that 2 hours had gone by, she had worked up an appetite. I came in a few minutes later...It was my shift, and I fed her some "fresh" milk...and sure enough she was off to dream land. I still feel a little guilty because JR took an hour shift with her, and by the time I finished feeding her I was only up for 20 minutes!
It was only one night...so I dont want to jump to conclusions....such as colic...I think maybe she just didn't get full from the feeding and maybe her tummy was hurting a little. Anyway..JR got barely any sleep, so he will probably go to bed early tonight....and I- well I am not going to complain or gripe about it, because he deserves it! He has been so amazing. Sadly, we have been pretty lazy, and pretty tired lately so our house is starting to suffer...Mainly because Logan brings all his toys out@!!!! Hopefully, I can get some of cleaned up this evening and tomorrow! Nahhhh...It will probably have to wait until this weekend!

Happy 4 week Anniversary Landry!!

M.I.A.

So, I have been missing for several days now...not because I have been super busy or anything like that but because I have been sooooo lazy!
We went home to my parents this weekend...it was great! My dad's football team won there last game of the regular season and are in the play-offs...Ironically they are playing Glen Rose this Friday...My dad used to coach in Glen Rose and it is where I graduated. I was mulling over the idea of going...it is in Killeen, but I dont think I will be able to make it. :( I completely forgot how boring Wimberley is. We never left the house...It was nice to be able to relax... I had planned on visiting pioneer town and maybe going to the outlet mall...but we did neither! I guess the laziness carried over because I haven't wanted to move since we got home!!!
The last couple of days have been pretty lazy..I finally got the dishes done and some laundry...but thats about it!
Tomorrow marks the 4 weeks anniversary of Landry's birth! I can't believe so much time has gone by. She is nearly 10 pounds...she is such a good eater! Landry is a spitter though, which is a new thing for me...Logan rarely ever spit up! I talked to the doctor about this but was told that as long as she was gaining weight then it wasn't something to worry about...We have a new doctor that Landry will see in about a month....I am interested to see if she has the same advice!
I am proud to say that the breastfeeding is going really well. I can count on one hand the number of times we have offered her a bottle...and it never goes well.
I am a little concerned about this...She doesn't do well with a bottle, so if I ever want to leave the house without her it makes it very difficult....but I dont want to force the bottle on her either...I would hate for her to get so used the bottle that she prefers it over me....but at the same time, it would be nice to be able to go somewhere without worrying about her eating!
I am down to pumping just twice a day...I pump in the late morning (around 10:15) right after feeding her, and then again right before going to bed. I am still able to pump around 10 - 15 ounces total, so I am pretty comfortable with that....JR and I still haven't bought the deep freeze but are hoping to do so this weekend .....It has now gone from something we wanted to a necessity. There is no longer any room in the freezer!!!
Well the princess is calling...
Remember to thank our veterans and all that are currently serving our country!

Leaving on a jet plane...

Okay, so not really on a plane...more like in a car crammed with three adults and two babies in carseats! Either way, I can't wait.
Unfortunately there is also some sad news...JR will be attending his great uncles funeral tomorrow morning. Afterwards, we are off to Wimberley and then to Fredericksburg for the football game. I am hoping to take JR to pioneer town and maybe go down to the creeks to get some pictures. I would love to be able to get some family pictures that we can send out for Christmas cards...but at the same time I want to wait a little longer so Landry can be a little bigger!..Not that I am rushing it or anything!
I am just going to do both!! LOL
I love pictures, and you can never have too many, especially of a new baby!

Happy 3 week Birthday, Landry!!!

Hump Day!

It is Wednesday and I have gotten a lot done this week...mainly arts and crafts stuff, but I did it none the less. I have to go to the store today....I am dreading this...I am going to wait until Landry's next feeding...hopefully it will all work out!
We are going to see my parents this weekend! I am so excited and a little nervous. One thing I remember about going places when Logan was a baby was how stressful it was at night. When he woke up in the night I was always so worried about waking other people up...of course, I did a lot of traveling on my own which also added to the stress. Luckily, JR will be joining me on this trip...I dont think I would be able to handle both kids on my own just yet. I mean, yes, I do it on a daily basis...but traveling is much different. My little sister will also be joining us on the trip...I have no idea where she will sit due to the carseats...she will be a little crammed...I guess its a good thing she is so tiny.:) Anyway, it will also be the first time I have seen my older sister since my grandfather's funeral back in July...I am not looking forward to this! Again, I am lucky though because she only works on the weekends and she works a 16 hour shift both Saturday and Sunday! So there will be very little time that she spends at home! YAY! Anyway, I am very happy to be going home...we are leaving on Friday so that we can go watch my dad coach Friday night football! It will be their last regular season game, but they have already clinched a play-off seat so they will continue on until they lose! I love my dad..going to the football games really reminds me of growing up, there were such wonderful memories. I cant help but be a tad bit jealous of my sisters kids...since they live with my parents they get to go every week to the games. My mom even takes my nephew up to the high school on Fridays for the pep rally where he gets to stand right next to his Papaw. Its so cute, I am so glad that they get to do these things. I wish we lived closer so that I could take them to more games. Maybe we can get involved in some high school football and baseball here...it just isn't the same since I have no connection with it, and wont until Logan is playing!
Anywhooooo....the weekend is nearly here! YAY

Wow...so much

Friday was aweful...I tried to take the kids to the mall to get a few things...it was disasterous...but mainly my fault...Like an idiot I waited around for Logan to take a nap...he didn't so I decided to go anyway, he slept on the way there, I had to wake him up, this was followed by multiple tantrums....NO GOOD!
Saturday, I left the kids with JR and went on a hunt for an outfit for me and Landry for pictures...I wanted to do autumn colors* I finally settled on a deep purple shirt for me and I ended up with a grayish brown dress for Landry, Logan had a brown and khaki striped button up and JR went with a deep maroon striped button up...we got ready went to the Picture People...spent over two hours taking pics...never got Logan to cooperate, he didn't make it in any of the pics....we will Try again around Thanksgiving!
After pics we rushed home to get Logan changed, then headed to JR's sister and they went trick or treating. We hung out for a while and had a good time! Logan understands what candy is now so we have to hide it...he calls all candy "cookie"...LOL
Sunday, we watched football and did some picking up....that was about it...ohhh and I made Landry and I matching beanies...I am going to make Logan one too using the same colors...too cute!
I have finished Landry's first photo book yay...super cute...I am working on some wall decor for Landry's room...I fixed my scanner...and I have to make a trip to the store somtime in the next two days!!!....I am busy busy!

* Everytime I went in to a store to try and explain that I was looking for Autumn colors, I got the same response..."When I think of Autumn, I think of hues of brown"..."Autumn? As in browns?"...I was like OMG NO autumn as is the leaves changing colors...burnt orange, golden yellow, deep red, deep purple....you know....Autumn!
