I have nothing interesting to say, so I will bore you with yet another update on the house. I drove by this morning and there was a man on a Bobcat leveling out the truckloads of dirt. By the time I got there at 9:15 it was already pretty much leveled. I wanted to take a picture...I really did, but I can't get over the wierdness I feel. I mean seriously, imagine you are at work, and the same car keeps driving by, with the window rolled down taking pictures...it weird. I feel weird even it is MY house they are building.
After picking up Logan we went by the house again and they were working on the plumbing. I guess its really pre-plumbing...whatever, they were carrying a whole lot of pvc pipes. Again, I didn't take a picture..I really need to get over this irrational fear I have other wise I wont be able to show the stages of development like I want to. JR went by tonight after work and said it looked like they were finished, if not - then they are almost done with the plumbing and should pour the foundation tomorrow or the next day...hopefully! So exciting.

We have DIRT!
Today I drove by the house to see if there was any progress...there was none. I was hoping that since last week was a holiday week, that would be the reason that they didn't do a single thing. All that I saw was that the had moved the huge dumpster and had put a port-a-potty on the lot. Nothing to write about. Then, on JR's way home from work he called to tell me that he drove by and they had delivered about 8 truckloads of dirt. I went by tonight to take a picture...unfortunately it was already dark so the picture is once again very poor quality, however; we have dirt! So most likely tomorrow they will spread the dirt and compact it and then in the next day or so should start the plumbing. Then will come the laying of the foundation. I am excited, I am really hoping that they have the house all framed up by Christmas!
Logan goes back to school tomorrow! This is a good thing because I have a LOT of cleaning to do and it is easier to get done with only one child in the house. Although, if I had to choose, I would much rather have Logan in the house instead of Landry. Especially these days, she is so up my butt that I have a hard time getting anything done. I can't believe how much she wants to be around me, it is seriously such a change from her wanted nothing to do with me. I actually love it, and it has really given us some bonding time. A long time ago Logan started saying, "I'm so smart." of course this was just a repeat form me always telling him he was so smart. Then it became a thing where he would say, "mommy, I love you." I would say I love you, too, and he would follow with, "I'm so smart." Now, Landry does it except she leaves out the word "so".
Landry: Mommy, I love you
Me: I love you, too.
Landry: I'm smart.
Me: You are smart.
Landry: I'm your friend
Me: you are my friend
Logan: But, I'm your BEST friend.
Me: (giggle, giggle) You're all my best friends!
It's too cute.
My tiredness has gotten much better. I have still yet to see a doctor, but I WILL make an appointment soon, it's just so hard to find the time.I am still relying on tylenol pm to get me to bed, but at least it isn't so bad during the day. On wednesday I have to go back to the dentist for a cleaning, and the kids will be going with me...YIKES! I have no other choice, my mom is working and I dont have a sitter. Hopefully it wont be too bad - although I know it will be. Oh well, what can I do. I love having my teeth cleaned. I just had it done 3 months ago, but if I could, I would do it every month!
That's about all that's going on at Casa Luck. Wish I had some sort of exciting news to tell, but I got NOTHING.Oh wait...here is something exciting, I finished 8 books over the 4 day weekend, and another one today...so I am still on pace to finish my 365 books in 365 days! back to pinterest! LOL

Thanksgiving
JR surprised me with a wonderful Thanksgiving treat...we were able to go to Galveston on Thursday and spend time with my family and eat some turkey and dressing. It was a wonderful day, but I am definitely still doing Thanksgiving at my house next year. Hopefully, I can learn to cook the turkey and dressing and not ruin the whole thing.
After eating and visiting with my family, we met up with JR's mom at the beach. I had decided that we would do some cute Christmas pictures by writing Merry Christmas in the sand and trying to get one posed picture, but more action pictures. Unfortunately, Logan did NOT want to take ANY pictures. I know he was tired, and was caught up in the excitement of Grandma and the beach...but ughhh...one picture...its all I wanted. On a positive note, I didn't freak out, in fact I just laughed about it. After looking at the pictures, I laughed even harder. #1 Landry was so tired, she was like a zombie. #2 I wrote Merry Christmas at an angle, so when Carol took the photo, it came out "Merry Christm". #3 Logan wasn't happy. #4 The wind was so strong, that my hair was either covering my entire face (or Landry's), or mine and Landry's hair looked as if we had it slicked back in some terrible fashion. It was all pretty comical. Carol wanted to take Logan home with her, so we let her and took Landry back to my Nanny's house where we sat and visited for a while.
We then headed over to Robert and Ariel's house to meet up with them and Nikki and Travis. It was really nice to just relax, and visit with friends. Landry still hadn't taken a nap, and was still in a semi-comatose state. She was so quiet, it was really funny. Aiden was having so much fun, and I really wanted Landry to liven up and play with him...I remember thinking at several points that I wish Logan was with us so that Aiden would have someone to play with. Not that it mattered, Aiden was so cute, and he played with everyone, I was really impressed with how he could be so rowdy and yet he seemed to calm down and be gentle when he was around Landry. I was also amazed at not only how much he was talking, but how well he spoke. This is always a little funny to me because Logan literally did not speak until he was much older. I mean, he said a few things, but seriously...I was really concerned. Landry on the other hand, talks constantly and has for quite some time, she also loves learning new phrases and copying things that we say. Some things she can say very clearly, other things - I am sure that I am the only one that understands what she is saying - and still there are things that even I can't understand. Aiden, however, talked up a storm and was very clear in what he was saying. It was seriously the first time I have ever seen him quite so animated and rambuctious. I guess it helped to be around people he was confortable with and in a place he knew. Landry on the other hand was mute! LOL It was just too amusing to see this little girl who seriously never stops talking be so quiet. Anyway, it was really good to see everyone and hang out, I can't wait to see them again. I miss getting to see them. Hopefully we will see them again at Christmas.
After leaving, we went to drop Landry off with Carol. Logan was already asleep when we got there, and Landry fell asleep about 10 minutes after we left. JR and I went to the Spot to watch the A&M v. UT games. It was a heart breaking loss with only 2 seconds remaining in the game. I really wanted to go back home, but I knew JR was having fun and wanted to go to the Strand, so I went along. I kind of felt that I would fall over at any moment, but somehow I stayed awake. We went to the Lounge bar and saw Ariel and Robert again, and then started a series of bar hopping. We didn't get back to my grandmother's until 2:30 where I was so eager to fall into bed. Unfortunately, JR was drunk breathing in my ear all night, and on top of that there was a wind chime outside the window that went on and on all night long. At 8:25, I told JR to go pick up the kids. The lack of sleep, and the enormous hangover was making me so sick. The worst part was that it was building up to a migraine so I had to sheild my eyes from the light all morning. Once the kids and JR got back we spent the morning with my grandmother.
Then we loaded up and headed to Victoria for my Dad's football game. We won! 28-0. I wish I could give you some details of the game, but the truth is I spent most of the entire game chasing the kids...and struggling not to vomit. I will say that our defense was AMAZING. After the game we were finally headed home. JR and I sang songs, played road trip games...anything and everything we could think of to stay awake. Once home, JR went straight to bed and I was up with two kids that slept the entire 3 hours home...we were up until 12:45. I thought I was going to die. LOL On a good note, I didn't get up until noon today, and I even took a nap later on. LOL On top of everything, it is so nice to still have the entire weekend to relax before Monday rolls back around!
Hope you all had a wonderful Turkey Day!

Over the pshychosis
I am over my little temper tantrum from yesterday. I plans are final (which takes a lot of stress of me), we are going to the football game on Friday, then heading to Galveston. This means we will miss the Thanksgiving celebration with the family, so no turkey and dressing for me this year, but I have come to terms with it. I am still getting what I want, and that is to spend some time with my Nanny. I am hoping to get her to give me the recipe for stuffing, and tell me how to cook a turkey so that I will be prepared for next year. I dont know yet if we are going to go into Houston to see JR's family, but we will play it by ear I guess.
I drove by the house again today and to my irritation, they still have not done anything. I can understand that its a holiday week, but it just seems like they could have gotten something done on Monday or Tuesday or even today. Okay, well it rained Monday - but still yesterday or today. The only thing new that I noticed is that I now have a port-a-potty of my lot now. It's not like they aren't working this week either, because every house on my street is being built. The houses on either side of me are finished, they are just waiting to close (I guess), because their sod hasn't been put in, and they dont do that until you close on the house, then there are 4 other houses on the street that are in one stage or another of being built, and I see workers there all the time. I guess I am just getting anxious...breathe Sara, breathe.
One thing JR and I are trying to decide right now is whether or not to do wood floors like we originally planned or to do stained concrete. I had mentioned the stained concrete to JR when this process first started but he said he wanted wood floors. Then my friend Alexa sent me a message suggesting the stained concrete. Jr happened to check my messages and went to the site Alexa had sent me, which got him thinking about it, and now we dont know what to do. We both agree that the stained concrete creates a very unique look. We both agree that we would do a faux finish on it and maybe even scour the concrete. We also both agree that if we did it we would want to put a large Texas Star design in the entry. The biggest problem is that in my head I still see the wood because that is what I have been thinking for a month now...kind of the same way that I get confused looking at the new blue prints...its the same house, its just a mirror image of the plans we had before. So, as you can see, we still have a few decisions to make, but we have time.
Another crazy thing is that JR was looking at his texts last night and told me that this whole buying a house process began on Oct. 25, when I went out for a girls night with my best friend Dana. It's hard to believe that a month ago, this was just a crazy idea, and now its a crazy reality.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Eat some Turkey for me!

Plans and such
So, here we are, 2 days from Thanksgiving, and we still have no concrete plans. My mom has Isabella and Isaiah this week, I told her I wanted to have them one night this week....she still hasn't called. I talked to her on Saturday night, she said she would let me know what the holiday plans were...I still haven't heard anything. So, here is what is going to happen. JR and I have decided to go to my dad's football game on Friday. It is at 2:00 in Victoria. From there, we will drive to Galveston and stay the weekend and head home. What will happpen is my mom will get mad that we didn't make plans with her and that she didn't get to celebrate with her family. She will turn it around to be my fault for making plans without her and leaving her out.
I am not in a good place right now. Holiday's can be stressful, and I have put off thinking about it for this exact reason. I have noticed that everyone I love seems to know exaclty what buttons to push with me. It seems that they knew before I did, how much I take on. Somehow, no matter what I do, I always feel as though I am lacking and everyone in my life knows this which allows them to turn things around to make it seem like it's my fault when they dont do something. I am so sick of it. I have a hard time with this because with other people I generally dont have an issue with speaking my mind, but when it comes to my family, I am a giant push over. I am the peacemaker, I sometimes feel like I should just shoulder the responsibility of whatever issues arise because its easier than listening to everyone fight. I know this sounds like a lot of rambling, and I wish I could give a good example of it, but I can't right now. I am too emotional, I kind of feel a little bit on the crazy side so its probably better to just work through it.
I love Thanksgiving and I always hold this hope that it will be what I want it to be, except it never is. In fact, I think each year gets a little more disappointing. So I have decided to stop trying to find a perfect Thanksgiving in other people. Next year, I am going to do my own Thanksgiving. I will most likely still travel to my Nanny's house because her company is more than enough for me. It's hard during the holidays because I know how tired she gets. So next year, I am going to learn to cook all on my own. My Family can come - or not...but either way I will have my husband and my kids, and then we can travel and see my Nanny.
I feel like such a scrooge. I have no desire to do Christmas, other than to see my kids happy to open gifts. I dont want anything to do with a tree or decorating - I could care less about all of it. I would seriously rather just skip the whole thing. YUP, definitely Scrooge material. I told you I wasn't in a good place. I kind of wish we were going on our cruise through the Christmas holiday so I could just avoid the whole thing. I thought about taking the family on a Christmas ski trip for next year, but at the same time, I want them to wake up in their own home and go to their own tree to see what Santa has brought. Plus, I can't imagine not being able to see my Nanny at Christmas time. So, I have decided that we will either do a Christmas get away or hold on until Feb. or maybe Spring break to go skiing. I really want to go skiing! LOL But, this will be for 2013/2014.
I also feel like I should probably avoid contact with my family right now, because when I feel like this, it usually ends up with an explosion on my part, and then a good 6 weeks of not speaking to each other, and then me having to profusely apologize for another few months. It isn't healthy - I am aware of this...but its so hard to break a cycle that has gone on for 28 years.
That's all...I'm done being a lunatic, for an hour or so...I am now going to lose myself in a book!

Forgot to mention
This is on facebook, but you can look at it here too. The football game last Friday night had a rather interesting halftime show. Usually, I dont watch the halftime shows, I go to the bathroom, or concession, or I chit chat. Mostly because I have seen it every week and there isn't anything new. This week, I was chatting with my BFF Dana, when I hear, LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem. I look up to see that not only the Texan Band, but also the Apache band is on the field and they are performing together. Luckily Dana's mom caught it on her iPhone, it isn't the best quality...but seriously it was pretty awesome!

Obsessions
I have a few obsessions. I don't know why I was thinking about it this morning....oh yeah, because I am ready to drive by the house to take a picture and see if they are working on it (especially since it is supposed to rain all night and tomorrow), but I am waiting for Logan to wake up! I guess I should just get up and clean, while I can - but I dont feel like it! LOL So that brings me to my first obsession:
1. Our new house - I am obsessed with all of it, from the building of the house to the how are he going to decorate, making lists of what we need...blah blah blah. Seriously, about 50% of my thoughts are wrapped around this house.
2. Pinterest - This is a website where people can pin things that interest them. From decor, health, recipes, art, to hairstyles. This site has everything. I am addicted to it. Some days I think, I don't know what to do with the kids, so I will look on Pinterest and find about 30 different things to do with them. Whether its a new game, or an arts project. It's awesome
3. My Kindle App - This is more than an obsession. This is a daily part of life. With today's technology, have you ever thought...oh man, I dont think I could go a week without my phone, or tv...well I seriously can NOT go with out my Kindle App. I was going through my books from this year, and I have read 322 books so far for 2011. I still have to fit in 43 books in 40 days, but if not, I think I still did an awesome job. I don't think I will make it, because I am only 20% in to the book I started last night, but it is about 500 pages...so I will just have to see how much time I have to read today! The point is...I love my Kindle App.
4. Facebook - This isn't so much of an obsession as something I just do. I dont have to check it everyday hour, but I like to check it at least once a day. Plus, I am playing scrabble on Facebook now, so It's a necessity to check it at least once a day
5. DIY network and HGTV - I have always liked watching TV. Unfortunately I dont get to watch very much because my TV is stuck on Nick JR or Dora recordings. During the evenings I can usually get in at least one show, so JR and I will watch either HGTV or DIY. Both of us seem to enjoy DIY more.
I guess thats about it, I feel like there is more, but Logan just got up, so I am going over to the house! YAY!

YAY!

Friday night Football
The Texans won last night in the Area Championship game against the Gonzales Apaches. 40-14 was the final score, and I have to say - my heart, my head and my stomach appreciated this game far more than the game last Friday. Don't get me wrong, I love the sport and competition of it all, but the double overtime game just nearly killed me. We will either be playing Sweeny or Rio Hondo in the Regional Championship this coming Friday!
The first half of the game was actually pretty close. The Texans got on the board quickly but missed the extra point. It didn't take long for the Apaches to make it down the field and put 7 points on the score board. My first thought - was crap! Here we go again. By the end of the half the score was 13-7, with only a few seconds left, te Texans ran a remarkable play that led to a 60 yard touchdown!
Obviously the Texans came out to play for this game and it was really fun to watch. My mom had gone to pick up Isabella and Isaiah up earlier in the day, so as soon as we got to the stadium, Logan was off to play with them. Landry played with Izzy quite a bit, but she also enjoyed just sitting in my lap. My Memaw (my dad's mom) was there, as well as 2 of my dad's sisters, Susie, and Wanda and her husband Duwayne. My cousins Carlos and his girlfirend and DJ and his wife Amber (who is Afton's sister...wierd!) and their son Mark all came as well. we had a huge section for just our family alone, but it was really nice to get to see them all. Marks baptism is tomorrow, so even more family will be there!
Logan got to ride home on the bus with Isaiah and Papaw, and stay the night at my parents house. JR and I are going to Wimberley to work tonight at a football game that the Texans are hosting for two other play off teams.
Our Thanksgiving plans are still up in the air. We are waiting on the outcome of the Sweeny - Rio Hondo game that takes place today. If Sweeny wins, we will play in Victoria on Friday, and if Rio Hondo wins we will play in Corpus Christi. I have to say, I am cheering for Sweeny, at least then it wont be so far out of the way and we can still make it to Galveston for Thanksgiving! So...Go Sweeny!

The wait is over...
First, let me just say that Logan's nose is healing. I have been keeping neosporin on it. I dont know if my thinking is true, but for some reason I have it in my head that it will help it heal faster and with minimal scaring. Not sure if it's true, but at the very least it will help fight off any infection (at least that's what the tube says). I figure it can't hurt. Plus Logan is a scab picker. He has several scars already from where he has picked a scab over and over. Two of those are from tiny mosquito bites that he just wouldn't let heal. Trust me, I have tried keeping it covered with band-aids, but he always finds a way to pick. Ughhh! I think it will be easier to catch him picking since this one is on his FACE!
Day Two of the healing process
Landry insisted I take a picture of her, since I was taking a picture of Logan...this is from this morning, so her hair hasn't been brushed yet...but those eyes...she is such a beauty - even with her crazy hair! LOL
Now, on to more exciting news. I drove by the "new" house yesterday and was disappointed to see that there was no progress. I talked to JR and said it was upsetting because when they said construction would start on Tuesday, I guess I was expecting some sort of- well, building. He said that construction starting doesn't mean anything except that they will start ordering materials...it doesn't actually mean ground breaking. This was a bit of a disappointment for me. I decided to drive by again today...dont really know why - it was a split second decision in which I went straight instead of turning in to my neighborhood. To my surprise...there were workers out there, and apparently had started this morning, because the framing has begun. I was so excited!!! It is actually happening! I can't believe it!
This is not a great picture, but you can see the work being done...I felt a little funny taking a picture while people were working...especially since they kept looking at me....so I just snapped one very quickly and drove on! I dont know why I felt funny....but I did! Maybe before we leave for the football game tonight we can drive by and take another photo.
Tonight we are headed to New Braunfels for the second round of the play-offs. This is the Area Championship game, and I am so happy that we don't have travel far for this game. All thoughts of Thanksgiving plans have been put on hold until after tonight. It all depends on if we win or not. If we win, it will also matter where we will be playing. I am really hoping to go to Galveston for Thanksgiving this year. I haven't seen my grandmother in a few months...since July to be more specific...and although I talk to her once a week, I miss her. So, hopefully it will work out and we can go down for a visit. If however we end up doin Thanksgiving at my mom's house...at least I know I am only one more month away from getting to see my Nanny. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday...and I would love to spend it with my favorite person - my Nanny.
Have a great weekend everyone...and now that I know the house is being built, maybe I will stop blogging about it so much! LOL

Foul Play
Last night was a disaster! I made dinner, we all sat down to eat. Logan decided he didn't want meat loaf, all he wanted was bread and butter - I would call it toast, but he doesn't like it toasted. I told him he had to eat at least 4 bites before I would give him any bread. He didn't like that, so I just sat down and started eating. JR could have been on another planet for all the help he was. He sat on the couch, played on the computer and ate his dinner. Never saying a word. He didn't get home until after 7, and I was tired, so I chose to go with the ignore tactic. So I did - I ignored Logan while he was whining and crying for bread. When I was finished I went to put my plate in the sink. Logan had stopped crying but he was still acting up, we were talking - I know I was getting on to him, but I dont remember what it was. I know I told him he needed to sit down and eat on several occasions. Then I was at the sink washing dishes - and BAM! The bar section of our counter vibrates. I assume he has hit the TOP of his head, so I say, "see, if you were sitting down....Ahhhh" At that point I had seen him. I thought oh God, he broke his nose. I thought I was going to be sick, I am panicking - I mean full fledged panic. My heart is racing, I dont remember hearing anything. I saw his eyes tear up, but I dont remember hearing him cry. I have no idea where Landry was. I remember looking over at JR who was still sitting staring at the computer. I remember shrieking (and that's probably an accurate description) for him to get up...Actually, I think I just JaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I dont really know what all happened then, I know I tried to get ice, but my hands were shaking so badly that I couldn't do it and then JR told me that I needed to go to the back room until I could calm down because I was scaring Logan. I went and sat on Logan's bed, I cried, but I remember thinking that I needed to be with Logan not sitting on a bed. I was still crying, but the shrieking had stopped. When I walked into the living room Logan was sitting in JR's lap. JR was holding him, rocking him and talking calmly to him. I picked Logan up and just held him so tight and cried and cried and cried. JR wiggled his nose around. I wanted to take him to the ER, but JR said I was over reacting. He said Logan was fine, it was just a scrape. I still think we should have taken him to the ER. I gave him children's tylenol and put neosporin on the scratches. This morning, the bright red had turned to a very dark red, and I expect tomorrow the bruising will begin to show. We will see.
Most of you have already seen it, but - here is what he looked like right after the accident.

step one???
Yesterday was a delay on the house due to rain, but I drove by today and they had some stakes in the ground. I assume its to prepare for the forming of the concrete. I have no idea. I have never really paid attention to the building of a house. It just happens - ya know? I guess, since its my house I am much more interested in the process. I kind of have it in my head how the process is supposed to go, and apparently when I hear "construction starts" I guess I was expecting to see something more than 3 stakes in the ground.
Oh well, you know what they say about expectations!
So, here is a picture of our lot...Hopefully, a month from now the frame will at least be up!

rain delay
I woke up this morning to a monsoon. I got up to start getting ready before waking up the kids, but then it hit me. JR still hasn't changed the light bulb in my car. I haven't driven since Friday night, so I haven't really thought about it, and even driving Logan to school in the morning shouldn't be a problem...except that it was RAINING. So, I opted to keep Logan home. It probably wouldn't have been a big deal to just drive him to school, but the school is literally a block up from the police station, and I just didn't want to risk it. JR promised he would fix it when he get's home tonight...I guess we will see. He has been getting home after dark for a while now, but, seriously - he has to do it...I am too afraid to drive. I know its just a headlight, but stuff like that really freaks me out. Especially since I just got a ticket, I can't afford another one...hell - I can barely afford the one I got. Although, I am sure if I got pulled over I could show the officer the light bulb (that is still sitting in my front seat) and they would probably let me go, but seeing as how I got a ticket 4 days ago, they might not be too happy that it still isn't fixed...so I am just opting not to drive!
Also, because of the rain, the construction did not start on the house today:( It isn't even that it's construction construction...I mean, they still have to lay the frame work and a few other steps before they can even pour the slab...but still, I was ready to see somethiing being done. Hopefully tomorrow the ground will be dry enough to start!!! We will See!

here we go!
Saturday we went to our final studio appointment. It went by much quicker and easier than the first one. For one, I knew what I was getting in to. Another thing was that JR and I had an entire week to go over exactly what we wanted and what we could live without. I made sure to look at the brick, siding, and trim colors - and I was glad we did. JR and I both agreed that the trim was a little too dark. Je tends to leans towards grey and I lean towards brown...but, how can I really trust JR when we can't tell the difference between blue and purple? LOL We both agreed on the colors we chose, so hopefully it turns out well. It's so hard to imagine what it will look like as a whole, because you only get to look at samples. I really wish they used a computer program that gave you a visual of the over all product!
Another major difference is that the blue prints we have been looking at since we started the process has the garage on the left and the front door entry to the right of the garage, however, JR and I wanted the garage on the right side - so they had to basically mirror the blue prints. The only problem is that I have gotten so used to looking at it one way, that now it looks so wierd to look at it the way it is going to be built! Oh well. I keep going back to look at it, and imagining it in my mind's eye so that I can get used to it again! LOL
Sunday was a lazy day. We did nothing but watch football and read and nap.
Construction on the house is supposed to start tomorrow. Can you believe it??? I can't! I am going to try to drive by today and take a picture of the lot, and I am hoping to take a daily picture...I got the idea from a youtube video of a pregnant woman who took a photo everyday of her 9 months of pregnancy then made a video of the photos on fast foward. It was pretty cool, so I thought I would do something like that with the house. Now, I am going to warn you that I will periodically be posting a few pictures of the progess on the house, but I wont bore you with posting the daily pictures...I will wait until the end to show the whole thing. While JR and I are very excited, we know that not everyone wants to look at house building pictures on a daily basis. In fact we have a friend on facebook who was building a house and everyday she put up 10-20 new photos of the progress on her house. JR and I were so annoyed with her, so we wont be doing THAT - however we can't contain ALL of the excitement and will most likely post pictures once a week or so, hopefully no more than that - I dont want to be "that girl." LOL

Blasted Friday
Yesterday, I woke up and was lazy for the first couple of hours. Then I got some stuff done during the day...fastforward to 3:00. I am running around the house trying to get everything packed for teh football game. I leave my house at 4 and head to my mom's. When Karen shows up, we start to load up my mom's car. While loading my mom fell off the driveway. I feell a little bad, because every time I say it or even think about it I laugh. It was hilarious. What isn't so funny is that she really did hurt it. It was pretty swollen, and her hip was hurting all night. YIKES. I think I should also explain that my parents driveway is higher off the ground. At the street, it is level with the ground, and the closer you get to the house the higher it is. The point in which she fell off is about 2.5 feet off the ground. Wimberley is in the heart of hill country, so none of the ground is level! Anyway, she said she was okay, so he headed to Marble Falls.
The kids drove me flipping nuts. Landry cried the whole time because she wanted out of the car seat. I never really have too much of a problem with her and the car seat, but because I was sitting next to her, she wanted me to hold her. I started to get carsick, so I had to switch places with Logan so that I could see the road. I was seriously so irritated with the kids, my head was about to explode.
JR met up with us for dinner in Marble Falls. We were in a huge rush to order - eat - and leave to make it to the football game on time. I had to hold Landry the entire time I tried to eat an avacado burger, and somehow not drip food on her. I got more irritated when JR finished eating and still didn't take Landry.
We got to the game, JR sat 2 rows behind me, while I took care of the kids. After the first half I was so pissed. It was an extremely close game, and I had only gotten to watch about 4 plays because I was so busy chasing kids. JR on the other hand, didn't miss a single snap. Vanessa, Kyle, my mom, and even RANDOM people kept giving the kids candy. This was pissing me off as well. At least the random people gave the candy to me. But still. I said over and over - NO MORE CANDY, only to turn around and see someone giving them candy! I was ready to scream. I got so emotional that I started to tear up. I mean, I'm sorry - but I had the kids all day by myself, it was pretty stressful getting them packed and loaded up to get to my mom's. The ride in the back of the car with them was even more stressful, dinner didn't help. Then I'm in another stressful environment with a score of 17-14(us) at the half, my kids won't stop running off, or climbing stairs, and my husband wont help. I am once again all on my own, except that the people that COULD be helping are only making things worse by giving the kids candy. Ughhhh Pissed doesn't really describe how I felt.
JR came to sit with me at half time, so I thought it would be better. Nope, at the beginning of the third quarter he returned to his seat. I went off as much as I could with a crowd of peoplee around me. It didn't matter. So I tried to just adopt his care-free attitude. Let 'em play. It was seriously driving me crazy but the game was ON. Neither the Texans or the Ducks scored during the 3rd quarter. During the 4th the Ducks drove down the field only to be held to a field goal with about 4 minutes on the clock. The score was now tied 17-17. The Texans moved the ball, but it was slow going. With a long beautiful pass, the Texans scored with 52 seconds left in the game. Score - Texans 24, Ducks 17. The crowd went wild. It felt amazing...then the unthinkable. The Ducks scored with 2 seconds left on the clock. Tie game 24-24. It felt terrible.
In high school football, overtime is played the same as it is in college. The ball is placed on the 25 yard line, and each team is given a chance to score. If one team scores and the other doesn't, the team that scored wins the game. The ducks were given the ball first. And just like all night long, our defense just couldn't hold them. The ducks scored...31-24 Ducks. The Texans were given their chance, and amazingly we scored as well. Score 31-31.
On the second overtime, the order is switched. The Texans had the ball first, we scored 38-31. The Ducks line up, the Texans hold them. They don't get a touch down, and no first down...TEXANS WIN. Bi-District Champs!
It was a really rough game. I really hope it showed everyone in Wimberley that we could very well lose. Everyone seems to think that its a given that we will win. We are #2 in the State - of course, we won't lose in the first round of the playoffs. Well, obviously we very well could have lost. Hopefully they get their act together and come out stronger next week for the Area Championship. We still have 4 more games to play before we even get to the State Championship - so they better pull it together soon or the season will be over.
We FINALLY got back to my mom's house, luckily Logan went with his dad, and Landry rode with me and my mom - BUT she slept the whole way. Once we got to my mom's I moved Landry - carseat and all - over to my car and started it up only to realize that I had a front headlight out! LOVELY. I try very hard not to drive at night...I have terrible night vision so I considered staying at my mom's. I called JR, and he said I should just come home because he had to leave the house at 6 so I would need to be there for Logan. So, I head home. I get all the way to downtown Kyle using my brights most of the way but come to a 4-way light. I pull up to the red light, a car pulls up to the left, my brights come off. Can you guess what kind of car it is??? Yup, a cop car! The light turns green, I continue, and immediately - whoop whoop, cop is pulling me over! OF COURSE. I got a ticket, OF COURSE! Apparently he hears the line, "it went out today, I promise." A LOT! I ggot the ticket at 12:58 pm. all I could think was - TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER!
Just so you know, JR went and got the replacement bulb on his way home from work. So car is legal again. I have to pay a $140 fine by Dec. 1. YAY!

1. YAY!

Come on Saturday!
This has been the longest week ever. I have to say that if each week continues to be this slow I am going to be a very annoyed person. ON a good note, we are in the double digits for November, only 19 more days to go. I am not really sure why I am looking forward to tomorrow, it just means that its the start of a weekend. JR has to work tomorrow, which kind of throws a loop into things. Sometimes when he works on the weekends, it makes the week seem longer because I haven't had a break - and sometimes it makes the week go by faster because I need a break so badly. It is so strange to me how each day can be the same length of time - and yet some days feel longer and some shorter! Also, tomorrow is our final studio appointment. I am ready to get it over with. I feel like time might speed up once they start working on the house. I drove by again yesterday and they have marked off where the garage will be - I don't really know how to explain it - I should just take a picture! ughhh
I am ready for Thanksgiving....seriously, seriously ready for Thanksgiving. Maybe we can do it our house next year?!? That would be fun!
Tonight is the Wimberley Texans first playoff game of the season. We are headed to Marble Falls tonight for the game. I am not really up for going - I dont like being in the cold, but when it xomes to the playoffs I feel like I have to go to every game because once you lose - the season is over. So, they should win tonight, but I am still going to go. The hard part, I will be trapped in the back seat with a kid on each side of me since I am riding with my mom and her best friend! Grrr...2 hours with my kids on each ear!

a day with animals
Logan's school had a fun farm today. The kids were hilarious. Logan LOVED the animals. He was so kind and gentle, I wonder if that is just his way, or if having a little sister has made him realize the importance of being gentle. I have a big sister, who has NEVER been gentle - so I dont think all older siblings can be put in a category of gentleness...who knows. He reminds me so much of myself as a kid. I was always the sweet one, I loved all animals - there wasn't an animal I came across that I didn't try to bring home.
Landry on the other hand was scared to death. She wanted me to hold her. Everytime I tried to get her to pet something she would shake and say no,no,no... I kept trying a few minutes and after about 10 minutes she started petting the animals as long as I was holding on to her. More time passed and she asked to get down. She would hold her hand out like she was going to pet something and then squeal and run to me. Another five minutes and she was petting them without me, and five minutes after that she was chasing the animals. With her fear out of the way, she decided she could hold the animals...poor things never knew what hit them! I kept chasing her saving the poor bunnies and chicks she tried to pick up...by their neck - in a choke hold! LOL
All in all, it was a great day. All the kids had a blast. I took too many photos - which are all on facebook, but here are a few.

anticipation...
Really quickly, I refrained from the tylenol pm last night. I didn't fall asleep until 6 this morning. so, I have gotten 4.5 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours. Once again, I am going to refrain from lying down. But I have to say, if I am not asleep by 2am I am popping the damn pills.
Hump day has finally arrived. I am really looking forward to Saturday, which I feel is part of the problem. It feels like this week is going sooooo slow. Maybe it has something to do with the time change as well. I really dont want the next 3.5 months to go by at a snails pace. I have a feeling that things will speed up a little once the actual building of the house begins, but I wish I could wake up, and have Thanksgiving. Then go to sleep and wake up on Feb. 1. Yes, I am aware I skipped Christmas...I am not a huge fan of the holiday, other than the joy it brings to my kids...but lets face it. The joy last a total of 30 minutes. Yes, I am a scrooge - deal with it. I have gotten a little better since I've had kids, but well, I dont know to explain my feelings on Christmas and 99.9% of you reading this will disagree. So I will keep those thoughts to myself. Plus, we are saving every penny, so Christmas will be a very small occasion this year!
Hope everyone has a good hump day. Hopefully the rest of the week will speed up, and the next few weeks will fly by!

Tuesday...
I had an idea last night... uh oh! LOL
If you read yesterday's blog then you will remember the battle of tiredness I am having, IF not, go read it!
I decided to take one more measure in my fight against exhaustion. Most of you will read this and say DUH! but I honestly didn't even think of it before. I decided to cut out my tylenol pm at bedtime. Of course, because of that I was up until 5:45 this morning. Maybe I need to add that to the list that I take to the doctor. No matter how tired I am, I just can't FALL asleep. ONce, I'm out - I'm out! My mom has always said I could sleep through a tornado, and it's the truth. The only times in my life that I could wake up at the sound of a whisper are when I was pregnant and afterwards when I was nursing and the kids were still babies. But, the thing is I need help with falling asleep. My mom said I should ask the doctor about ambien (2 years ago), but I never did because I dont like the idea of being dependent on a drug to do something for me...but it occured to me that I already am dependent on Tylenol PM, so why not ask the doctor and see what they say. So yes, I am still very tired today - but I still managed to get Logan to school, and then Landry and I did the grocery shopping! She is asleep, but instead of lying down to read, I am going to do house work. I think I need to keep my body moving, and hopefully at the end of the day, I really will be so tired that falling asleep wont be a problem. HOPEFULLY! I guess we will see. I am going to try to go the rest of the week without the sleep aid, but I am pretty skeptical - one, because the tylenol wears off, so it really shouldn't effect me all day long the next day - so I dont really think that is the cause of my exhaustion. Two, I have done a few days without it before and I end up a zombie - going on 4 or 5 days with only a couple hours or sleep each night. So, we will see!
One other thing that has been on my mind lately is next school year...I know, it's still 9.5 months away. Logan will be starting kindergarten, and I am really thinking about putting Landry in the Mother's Day out program that Logan is in. It's only 2 days a week, but I see how much Logan loves it, and every time we get there, she just wants to play with the other kids. I think she would really benefit from it. JR, however, says she is still 4 years away from starting kindergarten and if I really want to do it I should wait another year before starting her. He also says that in reality I shouldn't put her in until the year before she starts school, because she deserves that at home one on one attention that Logan got. He is willing to compromise a little, by saying she should start the year after next...he thinks that when Logan starts Kinder, Landry and I will be even more bonded because it will just be the two of us. He has a point I guess. Plus, I do think that part of the reason Logan is so independent is because it was just the two of us and he had to do a lot for himself. Now that he is a big brother, he does a lot for his sister, so maybe Landry will benefit from a year of just the two of us- well at least until 3:00. I guess we will just have to see how it all plays out! But, come on...I think she would love going to school 2 days a week...plus she would still have me 3 days a week, and she would have the weekends with all of us. I think that's the best option!

It's Monday...again!
I really dont have much going on today. After spending the entire weekend catching up on sleep and being lazy, Monday and the reality that comes with it had been quite the slap in the face. I actually have to get out of bed...and, well, it sucks! I was thinking earlier this morning how nice it would be to have a week long vacation sans kids! Once I let my imagine run I realized that I would be quite content to actually send the kids on a vacation while I stayed at home and never left my bed. Sure, half way through the week I would want to get up and take advantage of not having the kids not to mention that I would miss the little bugs like crazy - oh! but then their fighting broke through my daydream and I realized perhaps I wouldn't miss them THAT much! LOL - just kidding...I would, even if they have been on a path of destruction today!
At this point, it seems that each of my family members seem to be tweeking my nerves a bit. Yet, I realize that it isn't so much what they are doing but my response to their actions that bothers me or I guess I should say my LACK of response. The truth is, I am so incredibly tired. I know I have mentioned this before, so I decided to take some action. For one, I have resumed taking the dreaded iron pills. I have also been taking vitamins in an effort to revamp my energy levels. I have been doing this for 12 days now...and sadly, there has been no improvement. The thing is, the more tired I am the less patience I have, and for someone with virtually no patience to begin with...well, you can see how this could be a problem, except that I am so tired that it seems I have all the patience in the world...because I just don't have the energy to push back or to even muster a response....to ANYTHING. Even JR has commented on it. He has asked "what's wrong" several times...there are only so many times I can respond, "I am just so tired" before even I get annoyed with that answer. Lately he says its worse, he says that I dont seem to have the energy to fight with him, which he swears is my favorite thing to do. He's right, not about it being my favorite thing to do, but I dont have the energy to fight. Even my biggest irritation of him coming home and leaving his socks and shoes in the middle of the floor...I dont know if I am just too tired, or if I have just resigned myself to the fact that after nearly 6 years, he isn't going to change this habit and it's just easier to pick them up myself than to argue with him about it. So, my next step is to make a doctor's appointment, which I had planned to do today, but didn't, so it will have to be sometime this week. I am going to make an appointment for EVERYTHING. A well-woman check, I want my blood drawn and tested for anything and everything. I want a regular check-up as well as a visit to the dermatologist to get all 6000 of my moles checked. Something is going on, and I have ignored it for too long, telling myself I just need more sleep or convincing myself that its just anemia. So...hopefully I will have some answers in the coming months.
Logan is doing really well. He loves school, and almost always gets good reports from his teachers. He is still struggling with learning names, but the teachers say that he has really come out of his shell and involves himself with other kids more than he did even a month ago. He seems to become more and more independent from me everyday, although JR loves to remind me that I need to cut the cord. Or, my mom likes to ask when I will stop breast feeding him..ughhh! He is nearly 5 years old, I haven't breast fed him since he was 7 months old! Get off my back people..he is my baby boy, forgive me for having a hard time letting him go.
Landry has become quite the little mommy's girl. LOL In the past two weeks, she wants to cuddle with me, she wants me to hold her - she is all about being with me. It cracks me up when we go pick Logan up from school, all the kids call out, "hey sissy" LOL At some point Logan is going to have to start calling her Landry instead of sissy! She has platued with her potty progress, and I am too tired to keep up with it. I know it's not good, I need to down a couple of pots of coffee if that's what it takes, but...oh well. No mommy award for me this year, I guess. She uses the potty about 70% of the time when she goes without a diaper. But due to my laziness she went the whole weekend with a diaper. Today she has gone without, and hasn't had a single accident...YET! She also FIGHTS her naptime. Sometimes she wont fall asleep until 3:30 or 4 and sleep until nearly 6, which means she doesn't go to bed until 9:30 or 10...again, I am too tired to fight with her. When I mention nap time, she usually runs to hide behind the couch or in a closet, even at night, when I can actually talk her into going to her bedroom, she will sit down and scoot all the way to her room, or bear crawl...anything to delay the inevitable. While at times, it's a little annoying, I have to just laugh at her willfulness! Plus, I know that she is just hoping that I will react, instead, I just slowly walk along side her until we make it to the room. When she hides, I usually just sit outside the closet, or by the couch and wait for her to come out.
This brings me back to my lack of response. I seem to have no reaction to anything, nothing gets my blood boiling - I simply just sit back and wait for the kids to come around where as before I would have simply picked Landry up and carried her to her room, whether she was kicking and screaming or not. I wish I could say that I am just testing this new style of parenting, letting the kids see the error of their ways and learn to make the right decisions on their own...but the truth is, they are 4 and 2...although maybe it isn't such a trrible thing to be calm all the time. I just need to get things somewhat back to normal...I like being calm, but geez, I need a little fire...it's part of who I am, and without it - well, I just dont fell like me. I feel hollow, like a shell of the person I really am. Even with the house. I am excited, I really am, but I just can't seem to muster the energy to research products, or go over every decision over and over again the way JR does. I feel guilty about it, but I think that you can tell how excited I am by reading my blog. As long as I am just writing about it, or talking about it while sitting in one spot - the enthusiam is easy to sense. It's the going here and there for this and for that, it's just so much...I am leaving a lot of it to JR, because I just can't muster the energy for it...a decision I am scared to death I will regret later on! LOL

Our visit to the studio...
Well, first let me just say that I was right in the fact that I got pretty overwhelmed. It also didn't help to have the kids with us, and my mom wasn't feeling well, so she didn't go with us. The first hours was okay, although the kids were pretty trying. I think during that time period, I was still really into it, and I wanted every little thing upgraded - I was not sticking to the plan at all. During the second hour I was particularly overwhelmed bicking out brick color, brick style, siding color, trim color, a garage door style, type of window and color. I honestly have no idea if the trim, siding, and brick is going to flow - or match...definitely going to have to look at it first thing Saturday when we go back for our final appointment. Then we moved on to flooring. I have to say that I perked up while looking at the wood flooring, we picked out two styles that I will come back to in a minute...Then we moved to tile, and once again it was hard to concentrate. The kids at this point were hungry and tired, and each tile looked pretty much the same to me. Picking out floor tile, kitchen backsplash tile, shower tile...ummm - I remember the master bath tile...but the rest, I couldn't tell you what we selected. Finally at the end the sales lady, took the packet and totalled it all up....ummmmm. Close to $19,000 in uprades. Yikes! Our budget was only for a little over $15,000...so, we had about $3500 to cut.
Back to our wood floors, the floor that we fell in love with was going to cost us $7400. Our second choice that we picked was going to run us $4,500 but I just couldn't wrap my head around it, because I wanted the more expensive one sooooooo badly. Once we got home we went through the packet and realized how much we would have to get rid of in order to have it, but at the same time I just didn't feel like I wanted to pay over 4 thousand dollars for somethin that I felt was only mediocre...I told JR that I want to LOVE my flooring, especially for the price we have to pay to get it. Apparently, telling JR that only sparked a new thought for him. He said, why dont we just get the carpet that comes included in the house, and we can go to Lowes and buy the flooring and have it installed for much less that KB was going to charge us. In fact...we went to Lowes and found something VERY similar to our first option for about a third of the price! So, while we have to go into the house after its built only to rip up carpet and replace the flooring, it is totally worth it. Plus, we get to use our upgrades for some things that we wouldn't have gotten.
It all works out in the end, but Saturday ought to be an interesting day considering that we have to change so much on our packet! Grrr. The good news is after Saturday they will start ordering the stuff for the house, we will be one step closer to having our pre-construction meeting. One step closer to the house actually being built, and we will have a final price for our home - so I will actually know exactly how much our mortgage will be. I sitll can't believe how low our interest rate is, or the fact that our mortgage wont be any more than $100 more than what we pay now for our stupid, crappy home - that we seriously can't wait to get out of.

I sitll can't believe how low our interest rate is, or the fact that our mortgage wont be any more than $100 more than what we pay now for our stupid, crappy home - that we seriously can't wait to get out of.

Late night blog...
I am writing this tonight because I will be gone all day tomorrow and it will be Saturday before I have a chance to write anything else. This whole "building a house" thing is becoming quite an adventure. We are sort of on a fast track plan because JR got all of our financing done before we ever talked with a realtor. It's funny to think that when we started this process it was more an educational thing. We only wanted to know what more we needed to do in order to be in a position to buy a home - I guess you could say we were happily surprised to learn that we could do it now! I hate to be a party pooper or negative nancy, but part of me is scared that something will go wrong. I honestly dont think the anxiety will go away until we close on the house in February. So many things are going right and seem to be just falling into place, so I am kind of wondering when the other shoe will drop. At the same time I try to push those thoughts aside, and keep a positive outlook on it. I am pretty much 90% excited and 10% anxiety ridden. I just keep telling myself that with the economy being the way it is, and with every thing that happened with the banks and loans a few years ago...surely they wouldn't keep saying we are all good if we weren't! Right?
So tomorrow, JR and I are headed to our first studio appointment. My mom will be joining us as well. JR and I dont exactly have a knack for decorating, so we are enlisting my moms help - she is very good at these things. My only fear is that she will try to take over. JR and I have an idea of what we want - it's just a matter of putting it all together and having it match. I think it will go well, she is pretty excited to help out. The thing is, JR and I can walk into someone's house and know when something has been put together nicely...we just dont know how to go about putting it together ourselves. One thing that I really want is a cohesive home...I want a style that will run throughout. Also, as much as I love my photos of my kids, I would like to have some art and home decor and other accents throughout the house...although that will come later when we actually move in. But I am hoping to start collecting some items soon! So tomorrow will be a 2.5 hour appointment..we will pick out floors and cabinets and countertops, and sinks, and doors and door knobs, appliances, window treatments, windows, brick, toilets, carpet, and everything else that goes into a house! LOL I have to say I am pretty excited, but at the same time - I dont handle stress very well, and I am kind of having flashbacks of planning my wedding. There was so much, and it was so overwhelming - it was easier just to go to Vegas. However, there is no Vegas escape...although there will be a cruise right after the house is built. I can say that on this aspect, it will be good to have my mom there. If I get too overwhelmed - I can always escape behind her and let her take over. LOL
I am off to bed...it's 11:30 and I have to get up early! YIKES! I will try to write on Saturday and let you know how it went!

Halloween and Upgrades!
The month of October seemed to have been the longest month of the year thus far. Maybe its because we had so much going on, but it feels like October first was more like 3 months ago rather than 32 days ago. I am hoping the next two months will go by fairly quickly. I am certainly more excited about 2012 than I have been about any other year in a very long time.
We didn't carve pumpkins this year...as for me personally, I could care less- but as far as being a mommy of two little ones, I feel as though I once again failed the mommy test. Sure, we did some other Halloween/October events. The kids dressed up, we did the trick-or-treating, we went the pumpkin patch (several times). Heck, we even threw in a trip to the carnival, a trip to Houston and the children's museum, several Friday night football games, and who knows what else. I will say, on my behalf, that while we didn't actually carve pumpkins, we did buy a few in which the kids decorated with marker...that sort of counts, right?
Logan got plenty of use from his Super Mario costume...and I don't think we have seen the end of it just because October is over. Landry was a Fairy princess of sorts, and on the actually Halloween night we gave her the option of the tutu and wings or the minnie mouse costume she got from Alexa for her birthday. She chose Minnie Mouse.
The kids had a blast...mommy and daddy were TIRED! I couldn't help but think that I couldn't wait until they were older and I could just drive the car and let them out at each house. However, afterwards, I thought...I can wait - I am not ready for that at all and it will be here before I know it and then I will be wishing that they were small again.
JR and I went up to the studio yesterday where we can pick what upgrades we want for the house. We wont go officially for our appointment for another week and half or so, but we just wanted to get an idea. We made a list of our top upgrades:
~Convert the half bath into a full bath (still on the fence - but 80% sure we are going to do it)..turns out it's $2500 (not $3500)
~Wood floors throughout the first floor of house (except laundry, bath, and 4th bedroom)
~Tile in all wet areas (including laundry room)
~Seperate shower and garden tub in Master bathroom
~Stainless steel appliances
~Granite counter tops
~French double doors for master bedroom
I think thats all...I thought we had a pretty small list of upgrades, unfortunately they are pretty much the most expensive upgrades running close to $15,000. Ughhh! We have a few other minor things in there, but those are the major upgrades. It's not that its THAT big of a deal, its just a little frustrating to know that I could go to Lowe's and pick out the exact same flooring options for about 50% of the price. The same appliances for 75% of the price. BUT I guess that is just the way things go. In fact JR even told me that maybe we should think about just putting in the included carpet, and the doing the floors ourselves later on after we have gotten good use of the carpet. It's a good idea, except for the fact that then we have to buy the flooring (it wont be included in a mortgage), we have to hire someone to install it, and when I move into this house, I want it to be FINISHED...I don't want to have to go back 6 months later and do something else to fix it. I guess it comes down to how much you really want something and being willing to pay for it! And when it comes to the floors, counters, and bathrooms - I guess I am willing to pay for it!
