Blasted Friday

Yesterday, I woke up and was lazy for the first couple of hours. Then I got some stuff done during the day...fastforward to 3:00. I am running around the house trying to get everything packed for teh football game. I leave my house at 4 and head to my mom's. When Karen shows up, we start to load up my mom's car. While loading my mom fell off the driveway. I feell a little bad, because every time I say it or even think about it I laugh. It was hilarious. What isn't so funny is that she really did hurt it. It was pretty swollen, and her hip was hurting all night. YIKES. I think I should also explain that my parents driveway is higher off the ground. At the street, it is level with the ground, and the closer you get to the house the higher it is. The point in which she fell off is about 2.5 feet off the ground. Wimberley is in the heart of hill country, so none of the ground is level! Anyway, she said she was okay, so he headed to Marble Falls.

The kids drove me flipping nuts. Landry cried the whole time because she wanted out of the car seat. I never really have too much of a problem with her and the car seat, but because I was sitting next to her, she wanted me to hold her. I started to get carsick, so I had to switch places with Logan so that I could see the road. I was seriously so irritated with the kids, my head was about to explode.

JR met up with us for dinner in Marble Falls. We were in a huge rush to order - eat - and leave to make it to the football game on time. I had to hold Landry the entire time I tried to eat an avacado burger, and somehow not drip food on her. I got more irritated when JR finished eating and still didn't take Landry.

We got to the game, JR sat 2 rows behind me, while I took care of the kids. After the first half I was so pissed. It was an extremely close game, and I had only gotten to watch about 4 plays because I was so busy chasing kids. JR on the other hand, didn't miss a single snap. Vanessa, Kyle, my mom, and even RANDOM people kept giving the kids candy. This was pissing me off as well. At least the random people gave the candy to me. But still. I said over and over - NO MORE CANDY, only to turn around and see someone giving them candy! I was ready to scream. I got so emotional that I started to tear up. I mean, I'm sorry - but I had the kids all day by myself, it was pretty stressful getting them packed and loaded up to get to my mom's. The ride in the back of the car with them was even more stressful, dinner didn't help. Then I'm in another stressful environment with a score of 17-14(us) at the half, my kids won't stop running off, or climbing stairs, and my husband wont help. I am once again all on my own, except that the people that COULD be helping are only making things worse by giving the kids candy. Ughhhh Pissed doesn't really describe how I felt.

JR came to sit with me at half time, so I thought it would be better. Nope, at the beginning of the third quarter he returned to his seat. I went off as much as I could with a crowd of peoplee around me. It didn't matter. So I tried to just adopt his care-free attitude. Let 'em play. It was seriously driving me crazy but the game was ON. Neither the Texans or the Ducks scored during the 3rd quarter. During the 4th the Ducks drove down the field only to be held to a field goal with about 4 minutes on the clock. The score was now tied 17-17. The Texans moved the ball, but it was slow going. With a long beautiful pass, the Texans scored with 52 seconds left in the game. Score - Texans 24, Ducks 17. The crowd went wild. It felt amazing...then the unthinkable. The Ducks scored with 2 seconds left on the clock. Tie game 24-24. It felt terrible.

In high school football, overtime is played the same as it is in college. The ball is placed on the 25 yard line, and each team is given a chance to score. If one team scores and the other doesn't, the team that scored wins the game. The ducks were given the ball first. And just like all night long, our defense just couldn't hold them. The ducks scored...31-24 Ducks. The Texans were given their chance, and amazingly we scored as well. Score 31-31.

On the second overtime, the order is switched. The Texans had the ball first, we scored 38-31. The Ducks line up, the Texans hold them. They don't get a touch down, and no first down...TEXANS WIN. Bi-District Champs!

It was a really rough game. I really hope it showed everyone in Wimberley that we could very well lose. Everyone seems to think that its a given that we will win. We are #2 in the State - of course, we won't lose in the first round of the playoffs. Well, obviously we very well could have lost. Hopefully they get their act together and come out stronger next week for the Area Championship. We still have 4 more games to play before we even get to the State Championship - so they better pull it together soon or the season will be over.

We FINALLY got back to my mom's house, luckily Logan went with his dad, and Landry rode with me and my mom - BUT she slept the whole way. Once we got to my mom's I moved Landry - carseat and all - over to my car and started it up only to realize that I had a front headlight out! LOVELY. I try very hard not to drive at night...I have terrible night vision so I considered staying at my mom's. I called JR, and he said I should just come home because he had to leave the house at 6 so I would need to be there for Logan. So, I head home. I get all the way to downtown Kyle using my brights most of the way but come to a 4-way light. I pull up to the red light, a car pulls up to the left, my brights come off. Can you guess what kind of car it is??? Yup, a cop car! The light turns green, I continue, and immediately - whoop whoop, cop is pulling me over! OF COURSE. I got a ticket, OF COURSE! Apparently he hears the line, "it went out today, I promise." A LOT! I ggot the ticket at 12:58 pm. all I could think was - TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER!

Just so you know, JR went and got the replacement bulb on his way home from work. So car is legal again. I have to pay a $140 fine by Dec. 1. YAY!
