Day 1

Hmmm...what to say about my day today. I have ingested an entire pot of coffee...so I guess I could start with that. I have a massive headache and honestly can't remember the last time it hurt so badly. Mark is a really sweet baby, he just cries...A LOT. Basically, if you aren't holding him, he's crying. He is totally enthralled with Logan. Unfortunately, Logan was gone from 9 - 2 today. I thought today would be such a great day to "ease" into this. I figured that with Logan gone for 5 hours...I would still only have two kids. I also thought that Amber would be picking Mark up around 2 (soon after we got home from getting Logan), but no, I was wrong about that too.Oh...I was soooo wrong. 1st, Amber had class after work...so she wont be picking up Mark until 6 - 6:30. 2nd, Logan is like a baby magician. Mark would actually sit in his exersaucer, or walker, or be on the floor while Logan entertained him. That lasted about an hour before Logan decided he wanted to play his DS...how could I deny him, when he had been such a big helper...(we have been limiting computer and DS time and trying to get him interested in using imagination). He played his game for about 20 minutes then conked out! I envy him. Landry entertained Mark for a bit, then decided she could fit in his walker...I went to the bathroom...Mark started screaming----he screams when you leave the room---I come out 2 minutes later to see Landry gliding around in Mark's walker! Ha By the time we left to pick up Logan at 1:45 she was totally over Mark! I will say, I have made remarkable process in the 10 hours and 45 minutes he has been here. When he got here, he wasn't much on holding his own bottle...we have quickly adjusted that! LOL Also, he isn't much of a sleeper. Apparently he takes a 20-30 minute nap around 9 and then a 45-1 hour nap around 1. Well, we left the house at 8:45, but he did fall asleep on the way home from dropping Logan off...he only slept about 30 minutes. I laid him down at noon, he slept until 1:30 when I got him up to get ready to get Logan. After eating and playing with Logan, and then me, and then crying for about 20 minutes because I refused to hold him (I wasn't being mean...I just hadn't eaten since 8 and it was 3:30...and with all the coffee, I was shaking - so I chose to eat, while Logan napped, Landry "read" some books and Mark cried). At 4 I laid him down...this was of course after I picked him up and loved on him. He cried for about 5 minutes then fell asleep. He woke up about 4:30, which was fine...I really didn't want to screw up his sleep schedule at night time, so it was good that he didn't sleep to long since he isn't used to it, but we are going to have to remedy that. I would rather him skip the 30 min. in the morning and 30 min. late in the afternoon for a 2.5 - 3 hour nap around noon. 2 things that Mark is really great at....other than crying...eating, and pooping. I have never seen a baby poop so much. I mean sure, when they are infants they poop quite a bit...but this is real human poop, and he went 5 times before 2:00. Then twice more by the time Amber came to get him at 6. Amber makes all his own baby food, which is really awesome, I always wanted to do that but never did because A)it was too much work, B)I was soooo freaking tired all the time, and C)I was too lazy! Anyway, I know all this may sound like I am complaining...okay, I am complaining - BUT it really was a pretty good day overall. Tomorrow Logan will be home all day, so we will see how that goes. I am pretty exhausted and I still need to cook dinner for my family. I guess I just forgot what its like to have a little one around. It's not terrible (even though I may have made it sound dire), it is however; very tiring. With all this said, I am still looking forward to tomorrow. I think by the end of the week he will be much more accustomed to not being held all day, and hopefully by next week he will be on a real sleeping pattern. The cat naps are okay...but he needs a real nap...I don't think its healthy for a 7 month old to sleep so little! LOL (I am joking here...he is perfectly healthy!)
