Day 3

Today is Logan's third day at school. First, let me tell you that Logan is not thrilled about going every day. He was actually good about waking up this morning. It only took a few minutes to get him out of bed, and he was in a pretty good mood. We came downstairs and I made him some breakfast. He wanted lemonade this morning instead of orange juice, but that was fine...seriously, this was huge improvement from yesterday morning. After breakfast, I told him we had to get dressed. This is when things started going down hill. He asked if he had to go to school, I said yes. He said, "But I already went two days." Oh dear! His entire body language changed..poor kid, only 13 more years, and then college! Ha! I certainly hope this gets easier for him, I think it will once he gets into the rhythm of things a little more and makes some new friends. Dear Lord, I hope so...don't know if I can handle 13 years of this! LOL Since he were ready early, I let him play on his computer for 10 minutes. I was hoping it would improve his mood. We got loaded up, and he wouldn't even smile when I tried to take his picture. His shoulders were drooped, his head hung low, I felt terrible. His mood was dark all the way to school. Every time I tried to tell him how much fun something was, he shot it down. I told him by the end of the year he would be able to read books to me, he said he didn't want to read me books. I told him he would be doing some math, he loves numbers - he said he didn't like numbers anymore. I told him he would get to play at the playground - he said he didn't like the playground. Ughhh. When he got out of the car, I tried to hand him his backpack, again, his shoulders slouched, he hung his head, my heart broke a little. He just stared at me as if pleading with me to let him come back home. He grabbed the backpack, turned around and decided to drag it behind him. So very sad. His teacher helped put it on his shoulders, but he just looked so sad walking in to that school. It has to get better, right??
Sleeping on a schedule is still a little rough. Logan still looked wiped out yesterday when I picked him up. I asked if he was tired, but he said no - then told me about his day, including that he raised his hand at lunch until the teacher came to open his chocolate milk for him. Then he let me know that he would be drinking regular milk today! Ha! He was playing great with his sister, I thought he might actually make it...but no. He fell asleep at 5:45. I woke him up at 6:15. A 30 minute nap, long enough to get a little rest, but short enough to let him fall into such a deep sleep that it would be too hard to wake up. JR had just gotten home, so he talked Logan into looking up new nintendo games on the computer, which of course really perked Logan up! They decided that after he goes to school for 50 days he can get a new game...don't know why JR promises him these things, but oh well, it's out there now. Can't undo it, the kid has already told me 100 times that he gets a new game after 50 days! UGHH. Last night was a little rough. I had hoped to get him to bed at 8:30, but fell behind with dinner. JR had a fantasy football draft last night, so he was absolutely no help. I had to cook dinner, feed the kids, pick up after dinner, rinse dishes...but I didn't have time to actually wash them. I had to get the kids in the bathtub, and into jammies. After all that, Logan didn't get into bed until 9:30. I was trying really hard no to go nuts on JR...but he has really fallen into some laziness lately, and I am not at all happy with it. I did well though. Six and a half years together and I have learned some lessons. I came downstairs and told JR quite simply, "I am going to say this one time and then I am going to drop it. It is entirely up to you, but if you want to go out of town this weekend, your going to need to do something to deserve it. You need to help me out around the house, and your going to need to be more productive and proactive with the kids." He said okay, then told me he would do the dishes...whew! No fights or argument, I told him what I needed and he agreed! WOW! It can't be that easy, right? NO...the answer is NO! I had to go check on the kids several times, because Landry was running back and forth between the play room and Logan's room. I yelled from my room a few times, and got up to go take care of...obviously JR wasn't going to do anything. When I got to her, she had crawled in bed with Logan. I started to get on to her, but Logan said he really wanted her to sleep with him. By this time it was 10:00. Ughh, I said okay, but that she had to stay quiet so brother could get some sleep. I had to go in 2 more times, and told her the second time if she made another noise, she was going to have to sleep in her own room. After that, all was quiet! Whew! JR finally came to bed, I told him to go check on them because I was nervous about Landry sleeping in the bunk bed. It has a guard rail, but still it's only a twin bed, and both of my kids sprawl out when they sleep. He came back and said they were out, and that Landry had taken over the bed. I knew I should just go to sleep, but before I could think it through, I told JR that he should have helped get them to bed. I know I said I wasn't going to bring it up, but geez! We had just talked about it 30 minutes before....it couldn't have slipped his mind! He said I was right, that he would do better. Well, that's all I can ask for. 5 minutes later he was asleep, but I was still worried about Landry or Logan falling out of the bed. Finally, at 11:30 I went to check on them, and this is how I found them.
Well, I figured it is what it is and I went to bed. This morning I went to wake up the kids, they actually woke up easily, as I stated earlier. I got them downstairs, only to find that the dishes had not been done. UGHHH!!! By the way, JR was still sleeping at this point. I got them fed, and dressed, and then JR decides to grace us with his presence. I looked at him and said, "Dishes. Strike one. Not helping with the kids this morning or last night. Strike two." Then took the kids upstairs to get teeth brushed. Logan went downstairs to play on his computer while I got dressed. I came down 10 minutes later so we could load up and JR was doing the dishes. He asked if that meant that I would take back one of the strikes, I said no. ONce you get them, their there, you can't take back a strike, his only choice now was to hope he didn't get another strike before Friday night! I don't mean to be a bitch, but JR has also learned a few things in six and a half years together...when Sara gets upset, tell her you will do better, and take over one of the chores for her. What he hasn't learned is that saying you're going to do something, and actually doing it are two different things. I am still holding out hope though. Hopefully, he will come home tonight and be more of a help with the kids, or help out a little around the house. I'm sure he will, well, at least I hope he will, because I really dont think I can follow through with not letting him go this weekend. He has been looking forward to it for a little over a month now. Maybe if he gets another strike I will just tell him that's one out...and he will still have 2 more outs (6 more strikes) to get him through the rest of the week. Seriously, I know my husband, and while I always HOPE he will do better, he's going to need the extra 6 strikes! Ha! Happy hump day everyone!

A little catch up

So many things to tell you, I don't know where to start! Thursday night we went to meet the teacher night! It was a mad house, kids and parents EVERYWHERE. Logan's teacher, Ms. Myrick (pronounced exactly how it looks My -rick) is very young. This will be her third year teaching, and kindergarten is probably really good for her. She is one of those super smiley, super happy people! LOL We got Logan familiar with the class room and filled out MORE paper work and the heck out of there. Ms Myrick did let us know that they were still enrolling students, and there is a possibility that they may hire another teacher. Ughh - seems a little late to be doing all that, but whatever. I hope he doesn't get moved.
Friday night we went to Wimberley to have dinner with my parents. There is a restraunt that we love to eat at because the food is great, the atmosphere is nice, and the kids can go play down by the creek. It is really beautiful there.Logan was a champ (for a bit) and let me take his picture. I actually got a few good ones that I am going to frame. He has a habit of moving around, or fidgeting when I take his picture. He also squints his eyes to where they look closed when he smiles. So there I am, going...Smile - open your eyes - dont move - smile..ughh! Actually, I was surprised he lasted as long as he did. Landry, on the other hand, did not want her picture taken, and they only way I could get a good shot of her was to have Logan next to her, but it worked out great because I got a really cute one of the two of them!
If you're wondering at all (you're probably not), the big tree is the same one that I used when taking a few of Landry's 1 year pics!
After dinner, we went to my parents house to pick up some bunk beds and some other stuff. Since my sister disappeared in May of 2011, my mom has been saying she was going to clean the upstairs. My sister lived with my parents, as well as her two kids. When she disappeared, the kids went to live with their dad. Anyway, there are three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. For the past ehh, say 6 months, my mom has started to clean out the bedrooms. My sister is/was a hoarder, so it is taking a LONG time. Plus, mom can only do so much before she has to take about a month off. The emotional upheaval is really hard on her, and if she goes on for too long the depression just eats at her. Mom packed up two boxes full of children's books, that she gave me...which is awesome, because even though I have a lot of books for the kids, we have already gone through all of them multiple times. There was a lot of stuff that I took, like a little Dora desk, and a plastic toy box...lots of stuff. Mom had her SUV loaded with trash bags full of clothes and stuff...there were 13 full bags, and this is her 4th trip. the sad thing is that she is probably a little less than halfway done. Anyway, we loaded up all our stuff and went home. Unfortunately, we had to leave half of one bunk bed behind because the screws had been stripped and my parents didn't have the tools needed to get it apart.
Saturday, we all slept in a little bit. Then we did some work around the house and waiting for my mom to call us. She was going to San Marcos to take all the bags of clothes to GoodWill, so we were waiting for her to get home before heading back to Wimberley for the rest of the bunk bed. We finally got on the road around 4, got the bed taken apart and got back about 7. JR watched the Texans game while I worked on organizing some of our new stuff!
Sunday we decided to go grocery shopping as a family, I grabbed my SD card from my camera and asked JR if we could go by Target so I could get my images put on a CD. I haven't done it since June, so I had a lot of photos from the summer that I wanted to get posted. JR asked how much the CD's were. I told him they were 3.99 per cd, and that 75 images were put on each CD. He asked if I would wait until we bought a new computer, I said - sure, as long as we buy the computer today! LOL It was a joke, but he said okay, so instead of going to HEB we went into town and bought a new laptop. Now, Logan has his own computer and JR and I share the new one. The greatest part is that I no longer have to wait until I can get to Target to upload pictures, and now I don't have to listen to JR and Logan fight over the computer AND this computer isn't missing any keys! LOL After getting the computer we went to buy groceries! WHEW! After getting home and putting everything away and getting the new computer set up, we laid out Logan's first day of school clothes, watched Toy Story 3 and went to bed!
MONDAY - FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Logan was excited to wake up! He got up, ate breakfast, and daddy got him dressed. He was so excited to go to school! I finally dragged Landry out of bed and got her dressed, but I couldn't help giggling at how excited Logey Bear was! He was talking a mile a minute. I found a couple of cute idea's on pinterest, and I kind of threw it together at the last minute, but one of the ideas was to write down what your kid wants to be when they grow up on their first day of school each year. Another was to take their picture one the first and last day of school wearing the same outfit to see how much they have grown and changed in the course of the year.
JR had taken a few hours off Monday morning so that he could come with us to take Logan to school. We all walked to his classroom and said goodbye. I was actually pretty calm about the whole thing, probably because I knew how excited he was. Landry on the other hand, did NOT want to leave. She was NOT a happy camper. She screamed the whole way out of the building. Ughh.
We decided to let Logan try the school lunches, at least for a few times to see if he liked it. We are lucky that his school actually provides pretty healthy choices for their lunches. I gave his money to the teacher when we first dropped him off, but last night I got an automated phone call from the district saying Logan's lunch account was negative $2.10...I am hoping it is just because it was the first day of school, and maybe they haven't gotten all their filing done. I guess if I get a call tonight, I will have to write the teacher a note. Also, I don't really know how much of his lunch he ate because when he got home, the first thing he did was ask for some cereal...and ate 2 bowls! I tried asking what he did at school, but all he said was that they played outside and had lunch. he said he colored a picture, and they sat on colored squares (I am guessing this was probably for story time). He looked so tired getting into the truck when I picked him up, I thought for sure he would fall asleep as soon as we got home. Somehow he managed to stay awake until 4 and I let him sleep until 5, but I was soooooo scared that he wouldn't go to sleep at night. It took me 30 minutes to wake him up, I made him walk upstairs so I could show him his new bunk bed that I spent the day putting together...I thought he would be excited, instead he laid on the floor and fell back asleep. He finally got up and went to my room and covered himself with the blanket. I was doing some laundry and talking to him the whole time trying to get him to wake up...he asked, "Why are you being so weird?" Okay, now I admit I laughed, because Logan has never used the word weird before. Then he told me to go away and stop being weird. I guess he learned this at school...there is no telling, but it was kind of funny. He ended up going to bed at 9:30...in his own room, in his new bed! I guess he was excited after all! LOL
Waking Logan up this morning was MUCH harder than it was yesterday. I started at 6:40...he didn't actually get out of bed until 7. He didn't want to eat breakfast, he didn't want chocolate milk, which I had already made..so I stupidly drank it, and almost had a big accident in the truck...whew, barely made it home in time (if you are confused, my stomach does NOT react kindly to milk). He finally ended up drinking another cup of milk that I had to make for him, but man, he was a grouch all morning. He told JR and I that he didn't want to go back to school because it was too long! HA. Hopefully today I can keep him from taking a nap, and maybe get him to sleep at 8:30. Maybe then he will wake up in a better mood! Who knows! Speaking of Chocolate milk, at dinner last night, Logan told JR that he got a chocolate milk at lunch yesterday, but he wasn't able to drink it because he couldn't open it and had to throw it away. He said he asked one of the lunch room monitors to help but she didn't hear him. Hmmm...not thrilled about this. They have a rule, that after you go through the line and sit down, you aren't allowed to get up. If you need something, you have to ask the lunch room monitor...so I told Logan that today when he gets to lunch, after he sits at his table he needs to raise his hand and keep it in the air until one of the lunch teachers comes to help him, and then ask to open his milk. I reminded him this morning when I dropped him off, and told him to watch the teacher do it so that he could learn to do it himself! Geez! I hope it goes better today, if not, I guess that will be another note to make to the teacher...Gawd, I hope I don't turn into one of those moms!

Growing Pains

Not a whole lot is going on at the Luck casa. Logan starts school on Monday so we have been working on getting him on a schedule at night and in the morning. We have certainly lapsed into staying up late and sleeping in, but that has changed this last week. The hardest part is naps. Logan doesn't always take a nap and I don't force him to. There are no naps in Kindergarten so he needs to learn to go without, which is fine, he usually does anyway. The problem is that he usually gets tired around 5 or 6 and I just let him sleep. Then he wakes up after and doesn't want to sleep at night. The thing is, if he is ready to fall asleep at 5, trying to keep him awake until 8:30 is torture. I mean pure hell. Yesterday he got sleepy at 4 so I let him take an hour nap. Waking him up is never fun either, but as I said..we are trying to get him on a schedule. I woke him up at 5, and he didn't go to bed until 11. NOT GOOD! The thing is, if takes even the smallest nap, he will be up late at night. He will be in school from 7:40 to 2:40, So I am thinking maybe if I let him take a nap at 3, it will be a little better??? Ughh. Also, our rule is that he needs to be asleep by 10 to ensure he gets at least 8 hours of sleep. The only reason I said 8:30 earlier is because that is the earliest he can go to bed. Any earlier and he will wake up around midnight and be up ALL NIGHT. Another thing we are trying to get our kids to do is go to bed on their own. Since Logan was born, we have basically just put the kids down when either JR or I goes to bed (Usually JR since he always goes to bed first). What we're trying to do is get them tucked in at 9 so that they have time to put themselves to bed, and JR and I can have an hour together before we go to bed. This working great until last night. We have been putting them to bed at nine (by the way, they refuse to sleep in their own beds...they sleep together in the playroom on a queen size air mattress). We usually put on a movie, and they fall asleep by 9:30...10 at the latest, but up until last night they had been asleep by 9:30. Because of the nap yesterday, Logan was still awake at 11 when I went upstairs to go to bed. I still put him to bed at 9 as usual, but he just didn't fall asleep. At 11 I turned off the tv, Landry was already out, and Logan was being good just laying in bed. I just told him to close his eyes and count to 100! At 11:20 I went to check on him, he was out...I don't know how far he made it to 100. I am really happy with how easily the kids took to going to bed on their own. We were super worried that they would get out of bed and play, or come downstairs...and yes, they do play and talk to each other, they do stay in the bed. Anyhoo, last night at 12:45 Landry woke up crying. JR went to comfort her. He ended up turning on Toy Story 3 for her. At 1:30 she was crying again so I got up to check on her. She said she wanted to sleep with me so I brought her to our bed. This is not a normal thing for her, so I thought she might be having bad dreams. 20 minutes later she woke me up to tell me about polar bears! Ughh! I told her to close her eyes and go night night. 2:30 she was crying again, she got JR to take her to the bathroom and afterwards he took her back to the playroom bed. At 4:00 she was crying "mommy, mommy, where are you." I got up and cuddled with her. JR and I were both worn out. I brought her back to bed with me and she quickly fell asleep. At 5:20 (right before JR's alarm went off) she woke up crying again. This time JR and I fought over who would get up with her...my argument was that I had gotten up the last time AND he had to be up at 5:30 anyway...so he should do it. He said a few 4 letter words then got up and put on Toy Story 3..AGAIN. Except by this time, Landry had woken Logan up and the DVR wasn't working. JR couldn't get the movie to come on...he got frustrated, told me it was my problem and got in the shower. I couldn't get the movie list up either, so I put on Tom and Jerry. Logan watched...Landry cried. My patience wore out, so I took her to her bedroom, put her in bed, and told her to go to sleep and not to get out of her bed again. Logan was still watching tv when I walked back into my bedroom. I fell asleep before my head hit the pillow. JR woke me up a few minutes later to tell me he was leaving for work, Landry was asleep in her bed and Logan had already fallen asleep! YES! My alarm went off at 7:30...I ignored it until 7:50, at which point I heard Logan waking up, and forced my ass out of bed. I let Landry sleep until almost 9. I guess we will see how today goes. Hopefully tonight will be better. We have to get back to the schedule..I am supposed to get the kids up at 7 tomorrow, so we better get some sleep tonight. Tomorrow night is meet the teacher night. We got a post card from the school yesterday that told us who is teacher will be! We are excited! As for the growing pains...our neighborhood is growing like crazy. The street we live on wasn't even here 2 years ago...in fact they were in the construction period of building this road when we moved from the first we lived in here in Kyle. When we started buildin our house their only 8 or so homes on our street. Now, it is full, with the exception of a few unsold lots. However, on our block alone their are 15 houses being built right now. A couple of blocks over from us there are about 10 more houses going up, and they just started clearing the land behind our block...so I am guess they will be putting in a few more streets in the near future! It's pretty crazy how quickly our little block is growing. Also, we checked the website, and the base model home we built is now $15,000 more now than it was when we bought it. That's kind of exciting, I guess. I dont know much about all that stuff, but JR said it was good, something about appraisal going up or some such thing! I just can't get over how many houses are being built right now! Talk about a boom!

cleaning out the closet

School shopping is almost done. All that is left is Logan's haircut and 2 bottles of 8oz. glue. We could only find 4oz. bottles, so if I can't find any this week, I will just buy 4 bottles of the 4oz. We went to several different stores to find clothes for Logan, but I am pleased with the results. It is so hard to find clothes sometimes. His bottom is smaller than his top, he has very long legs and a very long torso, but a slender waist. It means ALWAYS buying adjustable shorts and pants. The first store had very little by way of shorts...which is what we were looking for. I wasn't interested in buying jeans. #1 because it is too hot for him to wear jeans right now. #2 By the time it cools down enough, the jeans I buy today probably wont fit him anymore. Anyway, so in buying all these clothes, it means it's time to clean out his closet once again. Landry is actually in need of some new clothes as well, but I didn't quite find anything I really liked, so that will have to wait, but I am going to have to clean out her closet as well. We have meet the teacher night on Thursday. We are all excited. We will take all his school supplies that night and meet his teacher, then school starts on Monday. JR is taking off the early hours Monday morning so that we can all go in together. I can't believe my baby is starting kindergarten!!! Geez!

Sunday - Monday - Tuesday

Saturday after the golf tournament, we went to my parent's house. We left around 11pm and Logan stayed the night with Isabella and Isaiah at my parents house. Sunday, we spent the day sleeping and basically doing nothing. My mom works from 11am - 11pm Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of each week, which meant my dad had 3 kids by himself. We texted each other back and forth all day, until about 7 Sunday evening when he text me to tell me Logan was going to stay another night, and that my mom would drop him off Monday morning on her way to work. Going a whole day without Logan, was NO FUN for Landry! She was more demanding than usual, and kept telling her daddy and I to go get "her Logan" geesh...It will be interesting to have her all by herself Monday - Friday while Logan is at school. Hopefully, it will teach her to be a little more independent since she has always had me and her brother to do things for her! Monday morning, my mom dropped Logan, Isabella, and Isaiah off so she could get to work. The kids played all day long. They were all really great, of course, it just meant there were more people to spoil Landry. She seriously sits around like a Queen telling people what to do, what to bring her, what to watch, which game to play! RIDICULOUS is what it is! I keep waiting for the day that her head spins and she starts spewing lime green vomit! LOL The kids stayed the night with us, and I was really surprised that after Saturday night, all day Sunday and MOnday, and until 5:00 on Tuesday there were only a few minor tiffs. They got along so well. My dad came to pick up Izzy and Isaiah at 5:00 on Tuesday and the minute they walked out the door Landry grabbed her blanket and passed out. Poor girl, she is so used to taking a nap, but she just wouldn't go to sleep Tuesday...too afraid to miss out on something I guess! What did I do while the kids played??? Well, I did the dishes, and 5 loads of laundry. I don't think I have done laundry in over a month. I mean, yeah, I will gather up stuff that we need to get through the week and wash that, but basically - we have all been wearing the same clothes over and over again! Ha! So I finally gathered all the piles and started on it. I still have about 3 or 4 more to get through today, plus all the sheets! Ughhh! A couple of blogs ago, I told you of an upcoming trip to Vegas. JR and I thought about going at Halloween...I thought it would be pretty cool, but he didn't want to miss the kids trick or treating! I guess he has a point, although; honestly, I wasn't too concerned, but I conceded...I don't really want to miss the kids in the Halloween get up, but since our neighborhood trick-or-treats on Friday or Saturday (can't remember) and we wern't planning to leave until the 30th, I didn't see it being that big of a deal. Then, we decided that we would need to leave on a Wednesday. The reason being that my mom will be watching the kids and we didn't want to ask her to take time off of work. My mom will come stay at our house so that she can take Logan to school and we will stay in Vegas Wednesday and Thursday night and come home Friday. That way we can still make it to my dad's football game and bring the kids home with us from there. So for now, our plan is to go to Vegas November 7. We have so much going on right now with JR's work, he is considering taking a promotion, but it depends on what they offer for a salary. Right now, JR works on an hourly basis and while he makes a good deal of money hourly, he usually works 20-30 hours of overtime per week. In order for him to take a salary job, they have to match what he makes with the overtime, and in reality since he will be a lab manager and field technician (increasing his responsibility) we would like for them to pay him more than what his annual income would be if he just continued with the job he does now. On top of that, we are going to do some major shopping this weekend...school supplies, school clothes, Logan's haircut, clothes for Landry, and a few household items. So whether or not we go on Nov. 7 will depend on how much we spend this weekend, but on a good note...we have a back up date...December 12. Either way, we are going to Vegas, it just depends on how much money we will have when we go! We are pretty darn excited!

Saturday

Saturday was a full day for us. JR got up early and went to work for a few hours. When he got home we loaded up to go to Wimberley. The Wimberley Athletic Booster Club puts on an annual golf tournament to raise money for the athletics department at the school. Last year JR and Kyle (Vanessa's boyfriend) played with two other guys while Vanessa and I sat around in the heat watching Logan and Landry. This year, however; my dad offered to watch the kids so that Vanessa and I could play. I have only played golf 3 or 4 times before, but Vanessa has never played. Kyle got his degree in PGA management or some sort of golf thing and he is actually trying to get on the PGA tour...he's kind of awesome at golf! He takes Vanessa to the driving range quite a bit, so even though she has never actually played, she can drive the ball very well. Anyway, the way the tournament is played is that each team has 4 players. Each player tees off, and then you choose the best ball. It could be the one that went the furthest, or the one that is better lined up for you next shot...whatever ball the team deems the best. Then, the other three players pick up their balls and put them next to "the best ball," and each player hits their ball from that spot. Again, you choose the best ball, and each player hits from that spot. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, we ended up winning the tournament, out of 22 teams!!! We all got place first trophies and we each recieved a 1.75L bottle of Dripping Springs Vodka! (Dripping Springs is a town, about 20 minutes from Wimberley. They have several wine vineyards in the town and apparently a vodka distillery as well! HA) I also need to note that before the golf tournament began, there was a putting tournament. JR signed us all up for it and paid the extra money. I was the first person out of 24 to go (although, there were 8 people who decided to pay extra money to have an extra try) and I scored a 5. I got a hole in one on the first putt, and scored a 2 on the next two. By the end, five people (including me) had scored a 5 so we had a putt off. On the second round I scored a 6, three others scored a 7, and the last person to go scored a 5. :( So, I got second place. I should also add I was the only girl!!! LOL Anyway - we had so much fun. after the tournament we had the awards ceremony and dinner. My mom had just arrived with Isabella and Isaiah - they had been in Galveston all week, so we went to the grocery store to get a few things then went back to my parents house so the kids could play. We finally left at 11:30 - Logan stayed there because he wanted to play with Izzy and Bubba. My mom will drop him off tomorrow morning along with Isabella and Isaiah. They will stay the night and my dad will pick them up Tuesday afternoon. Today...I am so sore. We were going to go to a county fair in Fredricksburg...but I think I would rather rest for the day!

so long...

It has been nearly a month since my last blog. So much has happened and yet, not all that much at the same time! LOL It's summer so we are pretty busy. We have been to Sea World/Aquatica nearly every weekend. My niece and nephew have come to stay with us twice over the last month. I am reading more and more...which is probably the main reason I haven't been blogging. It seems I use every extra moment I have to read a new book. JR has decided that I may need help for this addiction. He is seriously convinced that I have a major problem....he might be right. I am very close to the 300 mark on my book list, and it's only August. We met up with my parents 2 weeks in a row in San Antonio to go to the horse track and do some gambling. I actually won some money on our last outing - I was so excited...only to find out that the money I won didn't even cover the amount of money JR lost that night! Ughh...Seriously, I was shaking because I bet $24 dollars on one race, only to find out JR spent twice that! Crazy man. All in all we left $20 short of what we went with - which pretty much covered our food and drinks. We decided to make it a stay-cation....So we got a room at the hilton, took the kids swimming, went to the horse races where Logan and Landry got to pet some of the lead horses, stayed the night and went to Sea World the following day. On Sunday we played putt putt and went to an arcade. The next few weeks are going to continue on the same path...this weekend we will be doing our school shopping for Logan. We have to buy some clothes for Landry Bell too since she has out grown most of her clothes. Geesh! I can't believe we are going to be buying school supplies! Yikes! He starts kindergarten in 3 1/2 weeks! I just can't believe it. Last night we all went to north Austin to trade in the HHR. To be honest, I have never liked that car...but I am far past the point of what looks good. I don't care about being fashionable, all I care about is that my vehicle is dependable. The HHR was at 65000 miles, and we could have made it much further on it. There were no problems with it, but JR has been begging to get a truck for 8 months now. The silly, silly man said he was willing to give up getting a truck if we could get a camaro. SERIOUSLY, Vanessa just got one a few months ago, so I know exactly what the inside of a camaro is like. THERE IS NO SPACE. The only reason I gave in to getting a truck is because I never have any space in our car. JR is constantly using my armrest, and I still lug around a diaper bag instead of a purse. It's kind of crazy, but I holds my wallet, wipes (because you just cant leave home without them), neosporin, band aids, sunscreen, a brush, pony tail holders for Landry (because it becomes a tangled mess if you dont put it up when it's windy outside), alcohol swabs, antibacterial soap, and an assortment of toys. It usually also holds the kids cups, and extra drinks and a few snacks. I am thinking about just carrying a first aid kit...then it would be all contained in one area instead of scattered throughout the bag. Anyway, this bag is usually at my feet, which means I have to ride with one foot propped on the dashboard...which scares the bejeezus out of me, because I am so scared of getting in a wreck in that position....or I have to cross my legs, which I then have to swith frequently because I have bad circulation and I end up losing feeling in my feet if I cross my legs for too long. Since JR uses my armrest I am usually slumped against the door...basically - I am very uncomfortable. Getting the truck has solved my problem, as now I mave more than enough space, but JR now has much more space, and the kids have so much more space in the back, we could actually fit another kid back there...not that we will anytime soon - but, it's nice to know that the space is available! This is the first vehicle JR has ever owned brand new, he has always had used vehicles before so he was very excited! He jokingly made a comment that in 10 years Logan will be close to 16, so this could be his first truck. My first thought was...oh God! My baby is only 10 years away from driving. I can't handle that. My next thought was...hell yeah, this can be his first truck. It will be paid off, and he is NOT getting a new vehicle when he turns 16. JR said we probably wouldn't have it anymore. Whatever! I am all for having a car - paying it off - and going payment free until that car no longer works! JR and I are also planning a Vegas trip for the end of the year...NOv/Dec. We had originally planned to go back to Vegas for our 30th birthday's next May/June, but we have narrowed it down to two places. Aruba or Puerto Rico. So, hopefully we can save up enough and actually do it...with this new truck payment we'll be lucky to buy groceries, LOL! I guess we will see what happens. But the Vegas thing will be happening for sure. I am going to be booking the flight in the next month or so..I am waiting on my dad's football schedule. I have to work it out with Logan's school schedule, JR's work schedule, mom's work schedule, and dad's football schedule...these are important because my parents will be the ones watching the kids. We are keeping it a short trip...just 2 nights! But JR and I need a vacation just the two of us at least once every other year! I will try to do better about blogging so that I dont write a novel next time. Hope all is well!
