So right now we are going through some transitional periods with Logan...some have been "not too bad" and others are proving to be trying at best! First, just let me say that I was not stupid enough to do all of this at the same time...this had been happening for a while now!
Transition #1 - Bottle detachment - we have been slowly taking the bottle away from Logan...some would say that we waited too long...to tell you the truth, I have no idea when the right time was. Anyway, around Thanksgiving, my sister said that he shouldn't be on the bottle anymore, so we slowly started decreasing the #. He has been on sippy cups since he was a year old, but he also had bottles...so anyway, by Christmas he was down to only having a bottle before bed. So in short, it was very easy to reduce the amount of bottles, but it was more difficult to take it completely away. Part of it is my fault, because it is just easier to give him a bottle...but I have been holding steady, and I will say that he has had a few, but VERY few.
Transistion #2 - Bedtime - Since I quit my job we have been trying to move Logan's bedtime to a normal hour. For 7 months we put Logan to sleep right before I left for work, so that he would sleep longer and I could actually get some sleep. So we put him to bed around 1:00 am...I know that sounds awful, but it worked for us. Anyway, after I quit we decided that he needed a decent bedtime...THIS HAS BEEN HELL!!! We tried moving it up 30 minutes at a time...which is basically just hit or miss....sometimes he goes night night, sometimes he doesn't....this is where the temptation to give in to the bottle comes in....Most nights he will lay in bed and talk (see previous blog for video). He will lay there with out squirming or trying to get up, but he talks non-stop. We have finally gotten to 11:00, but I still want him in bed earlier...GRRR!
Transistion #3 - Sleeping in his own crib - This IS ALSO HELL!!! After Logan was born he slept with us for the first couple of months....I had been warned by many that we needed to put him in his crib early so that we wouldn't have a problem with it. BUT...we were stupid....from month 3 to 14 he pretty much always slept in his crib, then his once a week, once every two weeks, all of a sudden turned into more and more often, until it was every night. Of course, the every night thing really started up when I took the job with the paper. So I wanted to get him back to his crib, and it hasn't been easy...at all. Today was the second day in this process...but really only the first REAL day...see the other night we put him in his crib several times, because we were just trying to get some sleep...but it turned out that whether he was in the bed with us or in the crib, we weren't going to get any sleep. When he was in bed with us...he was jumping on us, talking, calling Dexter...when he was in the crib, he was screaming bloody murder..It was a very long night and even longer day! So he slept with us last night, I set my alarm and Logan and I got up at 9 this morning. At 12:30 I told him it was nap time, and I took him to his room and laid him in his crib...I didn't just lay him down for no reason, he was sleepy, so I laid him down. At 2:00 he was still screaming, so I went and picked him up.....I know, I am supposed to stay strong, but It had been an hour and a half...if it hadn't happened by then...it wasn't going to happen. So I got him up and we played after, of course, I comforted him. At 3:30 he was doing the head nod, and he even tried to lay on the kitchen floor to take a nap...EWWW! I promptly picked him up, rocked with him for a bit, then laid him in the crib. His eyes shot wide open and the screaming began. At 4:45 I went to pick him up...same process. This time I walked around holding him for a bit until it seemed that he was asleep, then I went another 10 min! I laid him in the crib, he immediately woke up...screaming ensued. JR got home around 6 and I started dinner, Logan was still screaming so I went to pick him up. He said hellp to his dad and played for a few minutes, then curled up next to him and fell asleep. I let him stay for about 5 minutes..picked him up put him back in the crib....guess what...he started screaming!!! I finished dinner then went next door to chat (JR was still in the house) I chatted for a while with Nikki, then went back to eat, and Logan stopped crying for about 15 minutes, but I guess he heard us moving around and woke us a started screaming again, so I went to get him AGAIN! I guess his 15 minute nap gave him some sort of energy because he was going strong for a while. At 10:30 he got a bath from JR, had his sippy cup of milk, and about 30 minutes later he fell asleep. I wasn't ready to go through the battle again so I just let him sleep for a while...SO yes I CHEATED....but in my defense, after he was asleep for a good 30 minutes, okay maybe 45 I went and took him to his crib, where he is sleeping soundly...for now! So hopefully he will wake up tomorrow and see that the crib isn't so bad, and tomorrow will be much easier! HOPEFULLY! I will let you know how it goes....but like an idiot....I am awake, and it is 1:30 in the morning...so night night...I need some sleep, especially if tomorrow was anything like today!

Cody
Also, I forgot to mention that Cody, the lab...somehow got out...my sister was devastated.....when we got back from the wedding she had finally come back...Thank god.
Last night we went to bed, I woke up to see this...it was so funny....you cant really see anything because all the lights were off, but check it out.

I was laughing so hard...JR was snoring, and Logan was talking on the phone...every once in a while you see his face appear...that is when he pushes a button which makes the light come on! He was much louder and much more talkative, until he saw the red recording light...so please excuse the lulls!
Monday Madness
OKay...so their really is no madness to today, I just like the alliteration! This weekend was great, but oh so busy! JR went to New Orleans on Friday for a bachelor party, which meant that I had Logan ALL DAY with no relief. He was actually pretty good, he usually is...but every once in a while I wonder how I will get through another hour! I finally went to see Bride Wars, which I really liked...at least the part that I got to see. I had to take Logan with me...I know what your thinking. UGHHH...I hate it when people bring their kids to the movies. He was pretty good through most of it and when he started fussing I took him over to where the door was so that we weren't bothering anyone. At the very end...he started crying too loudly so I just took him outside and missed the end of the movie, but oh well.Afterward, Nikki said that she wasn't bothered at all, so that made me feel a little better..hopefully we didn't bother anyone else.
My family FINALLY got here a little before 12 (midnight) My sister and her son (Isaiah) stayed at my house, so it was nice to catch up with her.
Saturday, we had lunch at my grandparents house. My little sister and Brandon got there around two along with their two dogs, Malika and Cody...Malika is a giant Doberman and Cody is a chocolate Laborador. So we had to do some shopping after because my parents forgot to mention that we were going to my cousins rehearsal dinner. JR got home about 15 min. before we needed to leave, so he got dressed quickly and we all went to Galveston for the dinner. It was awesome to see my family! I love my cousins...of course mom had two Margaritas, which if you know my mom, it was about 1 1/2 too many...but I love when my mom drinks...she is way more fun! Randi and I both had 3 so we were a lot of fun too!!! We came home went to bed...well everyone else went to bed, I watched The Dark Knight, then went to sleep.
On Sunday, we had to board the cruise ship early ...10:00, then we had to wait to enter the building, then we had to wait in line for our names to be checked off the list, then we waited in line to get our visitor's pass, then we waited in line to go through security, then we were sent to the terminal where we waited to board the ship, and finally after boarding the ship we waited in line, in what seemed like a wind tunnel, to get our pictures taken for the visitor's pass. It was finally 11:40, the wedding didn't start until 12:30, so we walked around the ship, went to the room where the ceremony was taking place at 12:15...then we watched the wedding cooridinator go over everything that was supposed to happen...then FINALLY the ceremony! Directly after My sister and I went to get a beer...while we had to WAIT for the reception to start. Then it started and there was an open bar....My mom, my dad, and my sisters, and myself....it wasn't pretty....we were the drink family!!! Every family has the drunk uncle or whatever...well we were the drunk family. I dont know how we got home, I just remember waking up, feeling really bad...I have lots of pics that I will post on a new blog!

VEGAS!!!
So enough with the stress....we are going to VEGAS!!! I couldn't be happier and my mom is even on board. I can't wait...We are going on March 16th, getting married on the 17th (St. Patrick's Day) and staying until the 23. It is kind of bittersweet....Logan's birthday is on the 23rd:( But the truth is we will be having a shin dig for him and it will be okay...funny thing is, my parents got married the week before my birthday and came home the day of...Luckily my grandmother had made me a cake and we started celebrating before they got there!! Logan will only be two, and although I indulged and let him have cake at his first birthday, he probably wont have any at his second...maybe a mini cupcake or something. I really hate to give him sweets...a bite here or there doesn't make me panic, I just dont want him to eat so much candy....he has plenty of time to do that when he gets older! Anyway, so we are going to VEGAS...it is JR and my first time and we cant wait to go...we wish we could leave tomorrow!!!!! If you want to check out our wedding website it is www.weddingwire.com/JRandSara I can't believe how excited I am!!!

Stress..
So the last few weeks I have been in quite a funk. I have been super emotional and everything seems like its the end of the world. There are days that I am just unusually sad, but cant figure out why, and days that I am just so angry, but dont have a real reason. JR can call and ask how my day is and it will just set me off...either crying or yelling or both. I know that the main reason I feel this way is because I am so stressed out. I am completely overwhelmed. I am one of those people that can't just let things work themselves out...I need to have a plan. I need to have a backup plan for my original plan. I am by no means a neat freak, nor am I extremely organized...I wish I was, but I am not. In fact, the only time in my life I have ever been extremely organized, was when I was pregnant. But just because I dont organize everything in my life, I still have to have a plan. I plan everything...I am actually anal about it. If I need to go to the grocery store, it needs to be planned a day in advance. I plan, mainly because I have a child, and doing things spontaneously just aren't that easy anymore. It makes my life easier and harder. Once, I went to the grocery store, got everything I needed off my list, got home and realized I had forgotten to get a can of pineapples...I was making pineapple chicken, so I really needed the pineapples. I had a complete meltdown. On several occasions, I have stopped at the store to do some impromtu shopping...I end up spending about an hour and a half and usually walk away with nothing...mainly because I am overwhelmed by choices, and I dont know what to get because it wasn't planned.
So I sound like a crazy person...I should tell you it isn't always like this...just most of the time. I dont do well with choices. Just give me an either/or and let me pick between two things. This is why when JR asks, what do you want for dinner, and I say I dont know....I am not trying to be difficult....I really dont know, there are just too many choices. I dont like being overwhelmed, I get extremely stressed out, and it just isn't pretty.
So what am I overwhelmed about, you ask....What else, THE WEDDING. There is still so much to do and not enough money to pay for it all, and I dont know what to do. In my head, I know that it will all work out....but I dont know how yet, and its driving me crazy. I met with a florist this week who suggested that because of my dress, I should go with some color for my flowers. I had originally thought I would do all ivory flowers...roses, callas, etc. simple but elegant was the plan. Because my dress is champaigne, I was worried that the ivory flowers might get drowned out. So he asked what color my bridesmaids were wearing, when I showed him the swatch, he says, "oh, this is great, because you can choose almost any color with this! You could go with pale pinks, or some pastels, some purple or yellows, or you could go with so vibrant colors like hot pink, bright orange...what do you think?" UMMMMMMM.....I dunno! Way too many choices. I liked the ivory, because like I said, it was simple but still elegant, the roses and callas, were very classic and traditional. I knew from the beginning I wanted traditional...not trendy. I dont know what to do.....any ideas??? I do like the idea of adding some color, and I even like the bright colors, but I also like the lighter ones. Too many choices...too overwhelming, what if I choose the wrong one! and by the way JR is no help...he says to pick the one I like the best! GRRRR.
The DJ we wanted to use is out of town on the weekend of our wedding, which sucks, but being the planner that I am, I have a back up!!!
I cant get a hold of the photographer that I wanted to use...here I am ready to make my deposit and I cant get them to call back, and now that it has been two weeks, my faith in them has diminshed...if it takes two weeks to call me back, can I trust them to show up.....so again I have a back up, its just that they require 50% upfront, so I have to wait a little longer before I can pay all that money!
Apparently, the venue is a caterers nightmare...they have a kitchen, but it is only equipped for heating the food up....didn't think about that one when I booked it!....So my venue has a caterer that does most of their events...but as you can guess, costs twice as much! So I am still looking into that.
I still have to pick out linens, which I have put off because of the amount of choices...plus I wanted to see how much money I have left, and I am hoping to find a caterer that provides linens!!
I really wanted to have live ceremony music, a string duet or trio...but I dont think my budget will allow it.
This is so stressful, I am seriously just about ready to cut my losses, take the rest of the money and go to Vegas. I even told JR today that instead of Vegas, we should just go to the Virgin Islands (our honeymoon destination...HOPEFULLY), get married there, have our honeymoon, and come home and have a bar-b-q in the backyard for the celebration with friends and family. The whole point of me doing the wedding this way was to have our friends and family with us....now I am just too stressed to care!
Will definitely take any words of encouragement!

time goes by
January is coming to a close which is so crazy...it seems like only yesterday it was Thanksgiving. I am looking into finding another job, and it seems as if my primary job (educational foundation) will not be starting back up. Money is tight and I am worried. There is so much we want to do and affording seems to get harder and harder. Especially with the prospects of having another child! I know it will all work out, I just have a hard time letting it all go and waiting. I want to know HOW it will all work out. I am the type of person who always needs to have a plan, and then a backup plan in case the first one gets disrupted!
My bridesmaids and I will soon be getting together to start planning the bridal shower and bachelorette party. That will be fun, and it will kick my butt into gear to get everything finished for the wedding! I have done so much and yet I know I am leaving things out! So it will be nice to have it all organized and laid out to see what else needs to be done. I have pretty much just focused on getting the big things squared away, but as we all know, the big things are nice but all the small things add up quickly.
My cousin is getting married Feb. 8th and I am so excited. I dont often get to see my Dad's side of the family, so I really look forward to getting to see them all. They are all from west Texas and even growing up we never really spent much time with them...you know the once, maybe twice a year kind of thing. I love my family, all of them, so I love the little opportunities we get to spend with them.
I am looking forward to June...so much is happening, on the 7th my parents will have been married for 22 years, the 14th I will be 26, the 21st I get married to the love of my life, and the 22nd we start trying for another baby. Part of me wishes I could skip forward to all the exciting parts, because with excitement comes stress...wouldn't be great to just skip the stress part??
My neighbor informed me today that she is definitely having a boy. I cant wait...oh by the way she is due June 22....so you see, June is awesome! They are already starting to get the nursery ready, and it is really funny to watch Travis. He is so excited about becoming a dad. I cant really explain it, but he is just different...he lights up when you talk about parenthood...so does Nikki...but its just sweet to see the guy get so excited! Usually it takes guys a little longer to realize the reality of being pregnant...but he seems to really get it!
