Thanksgiving

JR surprised me with a wonderful Thanksgiving treat...we were able to go to Galveston on Thursday and spend time with my family and eat some turkey and dressing. It was a wonderful day, but I am definitely still doing Thanksgiving at my house next year. Hopefully, I can learn to cook the turkey and dressing and not ruin the whole thing.

After eating and visiting with my family, we met up with JR's mom at the beach. I had decided that we would do some cute Christmas pictures by writing Merry Christmas in the sand and trying to get one posed picture, but more action pictures. Unfortunately, Logan did NOT want to take ANY pictures. I know he was tired, and was caught up in the excitement of Grandma and the beach...but ughhh...one picture...its all I wanted. On a positive note, I didn't freak out, in fact I just laughed about it. After looking at the pictures, I laughed even harder. #1 Landry was so tired, she was like a zombie. #2 I wrote Merry Christmas at an angle, so when Carol took the photo, it came out "Merry Christm". #3 Logan wasn't happy. #4 The wind was so strong, that my hair was either covering my entire face (or Landry's), or mine and Landry's hair looked as if we had it slicked back in some terrible fashion. It was all pretty comical. Carol wanted to take Logan home with her, so we let her and took Landry back to my Nanny's house where we sat and visited for a while.
We then headed over to Robert and Ariel's house to meet up with them and Nikki and Travis. It was really nice to just relax, and visit with friends. Landry still hadn't taken a nap, and was still in a semi-comatose state. She was so quiet, it was really funny. Aiden was having so much fun, and I really wanted Landry to liven up and play with him...I remember thinking at several points that I wish Logan was with us so that Aiden would have someone to play with. Not that it mattered, Aiden was so cute, and he played with everyone, I was really impressed with how he could be so rowdy and yet he seemed to calm down and be gentle when he was around Landry. I was also amazed at not only how much he was talking, but how well he spoke. This is always a little funny to me because Logan literally did not speak until he was much older. I mean, he said a few things, but seriously...I was really concerned. Landry on the other hand, talks constantly and has for quite some time, she also loves learning new phrases and copying things that we say. Some things she can say very clearly, other things - I am sure that I am the only one that understands what she is saying - and still there are things that even I can't understand. Aiden, however, talked up a storm and was very clear in what he was saying. It was seriously the first time I have ever seen him quite so animated and rambuctious. I guess it helped to be around people he was confortable with and in a place he knew. Landry on the other hand was mute! LOL It was just too amusing to see this little girl who seriously never stops talking be so quiet. Anyway, it was really good to see everyone and hang out, I can't wait to see them again. I miss getting to see them. Hopefully we will see them again at Christmas.

After leaving, we went to drop Landry off with Carol. Logan was already asleep when we got there, and Landry fell asleep about 10 minutes after we left. JR and I went to the Spot to watch the A&M v. UT games. It was a heart breaking loss with only 2 seconds remaining in the game. I really wanted to go back home, but I knew JR was having fun and wanted to go to the Strand, so I went along. I kind of felt that I would fall over at any moment, but somehow I stayed awake. We went to the Lounge bar and saw Ariel and Robert again, and then started a series of bar hopping. We didn't get back to my grandmother's until 2:30 where I was so eager to fall into bed. Unfortunately, JR was drunk breathing in my ear all night, and on top of that there was a wind chime outside the window that went on and on all night long. At 8:25, I told JR to go pick up the kids. The lack of sleep, and the enormous hangover was making me so sick. The worst part was that it was building up to a migraine so I had to sheild my eyes from the light all morning. Once the kids and JR got back we spent the morning with my grandmother.

Then we loaded up and headed to Victoria for my Dad's football game. We won! 28-0. I wish I could give you some details of the game, but the truth is I spent most of the entire game chasing the kids...and struggling not to vomit. I will say that our defense was AMAZING. After the game we were finally headed home. JR and I sang songs, played road trip games...anything and everything we could think of to stay awake. Once home, JR went straight to bed and I was up with two kids that slept the entire 3 hours home...we were up until 12:45. I thought I was going to die. LOL On a good note, I didn't get up until noon today, and I even took a nap later on. LOL On top of everything, it is so nice to still have the entire weekend to relax before Monday rolls back around!

Hope you all had a wonderful Turkey Day!

I was even surprised at how quiet Landry was being. I assumed it was because she was around so many people she didn't really know. Like you said, Aiden was in his prime at Auntie Ariel and Uncle Robert's house. He loves going there and seeing them. He make speak clearly often, but he still says lots of things that other people can't understand and soemtimes even I can't understand. Toddlers... gotta love 'em!
