Major event today! Logan and I went outside today we were having such a good time in the pool when Logan started saying, "Dexter" (Our dogs name) and was pointing to our neighbors yard. I looked up and saw two pit bulls looking at us. I was a little shocked because I know for a fact that my neighbor doesn't have any dogs. Before I had a second to think about the situation, the tan female dog jumped over the fence into my yard. I went to the side of the pool and grabbed my cell phone and turned just in time to see the male pit bull jumping over the fence. Great! Now there are two Pit bulls in my yard and I am trapped in the pool with my son. Now I am not one to jump on the "Pit Bulls are Evil" band wagon, and had it been just me, I would have most likely waited to see what they were interested in and gotten out of the pool when I was convinvced that they weren't going to harm me. The thing is, I had Logan with me, and I wasn't willing to take ANY chances! I called JR to ask what I should do...I didn't want to call 911 due to the fact that it wasn't an emergency, but I didn't know the animal controls number. I was doing okay until the dogs started circling the pool and I couldn't keep an eye on both of them at the same time. Then the female dog was on her hind legs with her front paws on the top of the pool....thats when the panic set in.... What if they get in the pool with us? I started splashing her to get away and then the male dog was doing it too. I splashed him too, and called 911. As I was hanging up the female dog jumped back over the fence and started walking off, but the male was still hanging around. My head was spinning....I was trying to think of a safe way of getting my son out of the pool and into the house. I thought if the dog goes to the back of the yard, I might have just enough time to get Logan and run into the garage and in the house....Then the damn dog went in my garage...my only entrance into the house was now my front door which meant I would have to somehow get Logan out of the pool jump the fence with him in my arms, go around to the front yard and in through the front door. This wasn't going to happen, so we just waited. The police department called back to ask if I could come to the front door...I said no, I was stuck in my back yard. After another 5 moniutes or so the dog FINALLY jumped the fence back over to the neighbors yard and I took Logan inside quickly. I went out to talk to the policewoman, who said that she was waiting for animal control...then she got in her car in order to follow the dog down the street. About 10 minutes later I walked outside to see if they were still there, and the animal control guy was loading up both dogs!
Now, do I really feel that the dog would have harmed me??? Not really, they weren't growling or barking, even though my dogs were going crazy. They, in no way, seemed malicious, but having Logan with me, I just couldn't take the chance. As the animal control guy was loading the dogs, my suspicions were confirmed...he was petting them and didn't even use the neck loop thing....he just simply picked each one up and put them in the truck. Hopefully everthing will work out for the dogs..one of them had a collar but no tags (the female), the male had no collar and no tags. While I feel badly about sending them to doggy jail, I also know that if it wasn't me it would have been someone else. I am sure that they belong to the same owner. Maybe this will be a lesson to the owner that his dogs can EASILY jump over the fences in our neighborhood and he should find another way of keeping his dogs in his own yard. I hope I did the right thing!

DUDE. You DEFINITELY did the right thing. I never assume that all pitbulls are bad, but you never know. And those dogs are not the type to take the risk with. This is exactly the reason why I do not want to live in this town with a baby. It's easier to make risky decisions when it's just yourself, but add a baby to the equation and it gets a lot harder. There was no way to find out if those dogs were nice without putting you and Logan at risk.
I had a pitbull in my front yard once that barked at me the moment I saw him. He had a big heavy chain tied around his neck and he scared the CRAP out of me! I ran back into the house immediately and waited for him to leave before I ran out to my car to head to work.
Glad you guys are okay! And I'm glad there are two less loose dogs in our neighborhood!
YOU DID THE RIGHT THING! They are NOT to be trusted. EVER. Especially with children! Two more are off the street and safe from kids thanks to you. Thank you.
