3 blogs in a day...I know, its crazy...Logan is getting so big and he seems to be developing new skills everyday. He has always been busy but it seems like this last week has been an explosive spurt in things he is learning to do.
#1 It is so funny that he isn't afraid to climb the pool ladder all by himself, but he is terrified of being upside down! When we go swimming he wants to climb it by himself and when I try to help he shakes his head and says, "No, no, no" (But I never leave his side, just in case). He will go under water and is learning to kick his feet, but would rather learn on his belly than his back.
#2 He is learning to dress himself. He doesn't always get it on the first try, and sometimes he will let me help, but only after he has tried several times. I am learning that when he tells me no, I should back off and let him try himself because its the only way he will learn.
#3 We are now locking the front and back doors of the house! He can now open and close all the doors in the house except one...He can open his bedroom door from the hallway, but not from inside his room! Ha...It is a little tricky though. This will sound aweful to many of you, but when it came to baby proofing our home...we didn't. My philosophy was that I was always in the same room with him and if reached out for something like an outlet, I would teach him that it wasn't something to play with. This always worked for me...we always put anything that could cause harm up high so he couldn't get in to it. When he was about 15 months old I finally broke down and bought some cabinet locks because I was so tired of him getting out all the pots and pans, which leads me to ...
#4 He has learned how to remove the cabinet locks!
There is so much more, but the reason I started this blog was to tell a story...Today, we ate lunch and went outside to play and go swimming. We played, we swam, we had fun. Just when I decided I was going to try to get in some swimming (real kicking and arm movements as opposed to frolicking) I got my head under water and I look up to see Logan coming to me. He reached over to the chair and grabbed his towel...I was curious to see what he was doing so I stayed in the pool and watched. He wrapped the towel around himself and walked to the garage door. He turned and looked at me and said, "MAMA". I quickly got out of the pool and started to dry off. Of course the longer it takes me to gather my stuff and turn off the radio the more imatient he becomes. He is now yelling my name, "Mama....Mamma.....MMMMMaaaaaammmmma" while banging on the door. I finally get over to open the door, I take off his swim suit and put in on the dryer, and open the door to the kitchen. He rewraps the towel around himself, goes inside, grabs a shirt from his room, and a diaper from the kitchen and brings them to me. While I am standing in the kitchen he points to the fruit loops and makes his little noise. I pour him a bowl and help with his shirt and put the diaper on him. He is so smart and is growing up WAY to fast. I find myself thinking, what happened to my little baby? Then I remind myself that in just a few short months (that will seem like forever) I will be starting the process all over again. I just have to remind myself that when it somes to Logan I have to remember that he is growing up, and I can't go back. When it comes to my daughter I have to remember to enjoy her being a baby because it doesn't last for long.
