On Tuesday I dropped Logan off at school, only to have Landry have ANOTHER meltdown - but, with my amazing detective skills I solved the puzzle. Landry isn't so much mad that we are leaving Logan, it's his lunch box that she doesn't like leaving behind. She likes to put her toys in the lunch box and carry it around - and she also calls it a back pack...for this, I blame Dora the Explorer. So after carrying my kicking and screaming child out to the car, we drove to Target to buy her a lunch box. Today, we dropped him off at school...she had her own lunch box, I thought all was going well, but we took a few steps, and BAM! She turned and ran back into the classroom yelling, "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" I have no idea why she calls Logan Daddy - but she does, and it does get a little confusing sometimes. Anyway, Logan told her "Go with mommy, sissy. Don't worry about it, I'll see you later." He held her hand, walked her to the door, gave her a hug and a kiss, told her he loved her and Bye, bye. She was perfectly fine after this. She walked to the car with me, although she wouldn't let me hold her hand - she didn't throw a tantrum, so that was great. First, Logan's favorite saying right now is "Don't worry about it." I dont know where he picked it up, apparently I say it..who knows. Second, everytime Logan takes control and tries to help me out, my heart melts. He is so good to his baby sister - although I don't know why...she bit him twice yesterday -Ughhh, I am running out of ideas on how to get her to stop. Several people have told me to bite her back, but I just don't see that as a good idea. I mean, what lesson are you teaching if you say, "no biting" and then bite them back? It just doesn't make sense to me. My point is, that Landry can be so mean to Logan, and he takes it all in stride, and still loves her so much. He truly looks out for her, and I hope he continues to be this way as they grow older!
On Monday, I started to buckle down and try to get this potty training under way. Landry is ready for it, but she is so dang stubborn. She tells me she needs to pee pee, she even sits on the potty, but then she will get up, go get a diaper, put it on the floor and pee on it. Now, I should be thankful that she at least tries to pee on the diaper and not on the floor, but geez...just do it in the potty. So far, we haven't peed in the potty once...and its been 4 days, but we gotta keep on keepin on! LOL
Monday night, Dana and I went to Trudy's in Austin..they are famous for their Mexican Martini's. I don't quite know how to explain what it is, it's kind of like a margarita, but it's not. They have a 2 per person limit. They come in a shaker, and you just refill your Martini glass when it's empty...there's only enough to refill it about 3.5 times...they are delicious. I didn't get home until 12:30, but man, a night away from the kids was wonderful.
Logan and Landry have become obsessed with Dora. It kind of drives me crazy. Nick Jr. has pretty much taken over my DVR, but I figure if they are going to watch TV, I would rather it be an educational experience. It is really neat to hear Logan counting in spanish, and to hear Landry counting in English and Spanish. While Logan can do it without being prompted, Landry is still just copying Dora, but hey - she isn't even 2 yet!
Today is a new experience for Landry and I. Today, we are watching Mark (my cousin's baby), while Amber goes on an interview. He is 3 weeks old, and just the cutest thing. Before he was born, Amber was working for a physical therapist in San Antonio, her husband (my cousin), works in Buda, which is the next town over...about 10 minutes. They live right up the road here in Kyle. Anyway, while she was pregnant, she would stay in San Antonio Mon.-Fri. and come home on the weekends..it was just easier for her, but now that Mark is here, she wants to work closer to home. She was thinking about being a stay at home mom, but after 2 weeks at home, she decided she was going back to work - LOL! Right now, her plan is to work for 3-5 months, just to pay off the remaining debt they have....geez - wouldn't it be great to only be 5 months away from being debt free??? (well other than their house and car they just bought, but still) - then she will go back to being at home. She starts medical school in January, so maybe that will help. Being a stay at home mom is pretty awesome, but can be lonely sometimes. It's nice to have adult conversation, although I am pretty picky about which adult I want to have a conversation with! LOL Mark has been here about 30 minutes, and so far, all is well - Landry, just keeps petting his head, saying, Baby baby baby. I have offered to watch Mark while Amber goes to work...I don't know if it will work out - but I would love to watch him. I miss having a baby around..not enough to have another one...but I would love to have him around and be able to give him back at the end of the day. Speaking of another baby...In the (almost) 2 years since having Landry I have gone from 100% sure she was our last, to about 45% sure. Obviously, it isn't enough to actually have another one...but maybe in a couple more years...??? I think I will follow in my mom's footsteps, if we decide to have another one, it will most likely be after Landry starts kindergarten.
Well, that's about all the random stories I have for now...baby Mark is so sweet...and Landry is actually being nice to him - maybe having him around will teach her to be more gentle!
