Okay, so it is 11:30 at night, so it's almost tomorrow! Today, I took the kids to the mall! I absolutely hate going to the mall, but off we went. We weren't there long, because, as usual, it was hell. Landry was upset to be in her stroller. Logan was crying because HE wanted to sit in the stroller...I knew I should have gotten a double stroller when I was pregnant with Landry, but JR insisted that it was a waste of money.
"They aren't much more expensive than a single stroller." I said
"But Logan knows how to walk, and besides he will just want to help you by pushing the stroller. It will be useless." He responded.
"Well, if he doesn't want to sit in it, then we will have a place to put shopping bags!" I try to persuade him, as I put a big smile on my face, because I absolutely want a double stroller, but see that I am losing this battle.
"I really dont want to get it. I dont think its necessary, and look, it will be more trouble than it's worth you won't even be able to get it between the aisles. We hardly ever used the stroller with Logan, and every time we try to use it, he cries and only wants to push it. I think its a waste of money. I think you should just pick out a stroller you really like, and we can put the extra money towards something else." JR has just won this battle.
I remember the exact conversation we had, because I insisted that we would need the double stroller. I even tried talking him into the ones where the kids sit in front of one another instead of beside each other....but nope, it didn't happen. So, let me just tell you - GET A DOUBLE STROLLER!!!!
#1 you will use the stroller far more when you have two little ones, than when you only had one
#2 they can keep each other company while safely secured in the stroller
#3 one will inevitably get jealous of the other. Either because one gets to walk around, instead of being trapped in the stroller - or because one gets to lay back and enjoy the ride instead of having to walk all over and try to keep up.
#4 with both kids in the stroller, you are free to go at which ever pace you want...want to take your time and look around - great....trying to get in and get out - Awesome! You are the one to set the pace!
#5 Both kids are in the stroller....you dont have to worry about the toddler running off, or holding his hand as tight as you can and as close to you as possible as you walk through the dishware section - and he is yelling at you to let go of him!
GET A DOUBLE STROLLER
As I was saying, we weren't at the mall for long. Landry was cranky - turns out she has a low grade fever, however; I believe it is from cutting teeth - we will see. Logan was complaining that he wanted to ride in the stroller - so I was holding Landry and trying to navigate my way through the mall while holding her in one hand and pushing my heavy child in the stroller with the other...I did NOT like it. On the upside, I got Logan a new pair of jeans and a few shirts. I also got Landry some new outfits, and I ended up finding a boys button down white shirt that I am going to try to put Landry in for the family photos....I also bought her a little white long sleeve onsie...so we will take photos in both and see which one looks better. I was also able to find a belt for myself. I ended up wearing it out of the store, because I had no hands to continue pulling my pants up.
Tomorrow, I will probably hit up the outlet mall, to get JR a white button down, and myself one, I also might check out JC Penneys. I have to go to stores that have a Big and Tall section for JR, and I know the outlet mall has a Casual Male...or something like that - I can't remember what its called, but I have to go to San Marcos tomorrow anyway because Landry's cheerleading uniform is finally complete! YAY! I am going to try to make it to Hobby Lobby, but a few things I have learned...
A)running errands is very difficult with a child.
B)Running errands with more than one child is even more challenging.
C)Running errands with more than one child and NO DOUBLE STROLLER is TORTURE!

Sorry to hear your trip was difficult! I will not in fact be getting a double stroller, don't want one after pushing one around Disney with my twin nieces. They are horrible after a while. So big and bulky (theirs was one behind another). This is what we are doing: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?WRN=-146519092&MC=1&SKU=17107445&.
We already put Blair on it and he LOVES it! Do you have a Buy Buy Baby around there? They have them if you want to try one out.
Alexa, that looks really awesome. I will look and see if there is a Buy Buy Baby around here. Definately worth a shot! I am glad you guys have had some experience with a double stroller so that you can see what you like and dont like! No matter if its a double stroller, or one of these boards - I really feel like its necessary to some extent - to have some sort of contraption to keep both kids safe and secure! It's a great find, thank you!
We actually went to several different stores today, and Logan was really good about it...yesterday was just HARD! LOL
I like your idea, that way, if he is being difficult, I can just attach it to the stroller and voila! If he is being good, I can just go with out it! Again - great find...Thanks!
