My Valentine

Yesterday I dropped Logan off at school and Landry and I headed to San Marcos. First, we went to the Social security office, where I changed my name on my SS card from Nelms to Luck. It took less than 10 minutes and I should recieve it with in 10 days. Then we headed over to the DPS. I told you already that I paid $1500 for tickets that I recieved in 2001 and 2002. I called the number to make sure that they had been cleared through the system, which it was so I wanted my driver's license. Anyway, so we get there, fill in the paper work, stand in line...yay - it's my turn. I can't get a license because it has been suspended until Dec. 5 2013...UMMMM - WHAT? Why do I have a two year suspension? Oh, remember that ticket that started this whole process. The ticket for driving with an invalid license...not only did it cost me $139, not it has apparently cost me two years to get my license. I have to pay a $100 re-enstatement fee, wait two years, and apparently I have to carry a special insurance for the next 2 years. So, why do I need to be insured if I can't legally drive??? I have no idea. I do know however that my sister got a DWI (this was like 4 years ago) and her license was suspended for 90 days. So apparently you can drive drunk and get your license back in 3 months...but if you drive with an expired license...it's 2 years! Please someone explain to me how this makes sense. I was on the phone all day yesterday. I have a few more phone calls to make today, in order to find out what I am going to do. I have a couple of opptions...1) I can request a hearing to see if they might lift the suspension or at least lesson in...this means lots of money, a lawyer, and no guarantee. 2) I can apply for an occupational license which will allow me to legally drive while my license is suspended. I have to get a judgement from the county or district court and carry the SR22 insurance (which I have to have anyway). The thing that ticks me off...other than not having a license, and the seemingly ridiculous amount of time for a suspension is that my insurance is going to sky rocket. Ughhh. It seems pretty crazy to give a 2 year suspension to someone who hasn't had a traffic violation since 2002. 10 YEARS without a sppeding ticket...I got pulled over in November because my headlight was out which is how I got the ticket for an expired license. Also...I was NEVER notified of my license suspension. I am really mad about all this. It just doesn't make sense to me.

The appraisal came back for the house and went to the Wells Fargo underwriter. They contacted JR about so more paperwork needed and HOPEFULLY should be getting sent off to USDA underwriter by the end of the week, which means that from the time they get it - it will take 15 days for their response, and then 48 hours before we close...so it looks like we wont close until the week of March 5 - 9. We are just going to go ahead and put everything in storage and stay with my parents, it will be cheaper than pro-rating the house we are in now. SO...that's the plan for now - it will probably change 18 more times.

I picked Logan up from school, he had a whole box full of Valentine's. Apparently they had quite a shindig! He was so sweet telling all his friends goodbye and happy valentine's day! Cutest kid ever! When we got home we went through his box, looked at all the cookies and candy and read all the cards. We is getting better and better at making the letter sounds...I can't wait until he starts reading!

When JR got home, he appeared with a new stuffed puppy for Landry, a heart shaped box of chocolate decorated with baseball stuff, and chocolate covered straberries and a box of truffles for me. I let him and the kids eat the truffles...I am not a fan of them. Then we headed to Garcia's to eat some yummy mexican food and have some much needed Margaritas! When we got home, I laid down and read until I fell asleep! I only had one Margarita, but man it was enough to lull me..not that I neaded much help - I was so sleepy yesterday!

Oh yeah...while I was at the DPS I did update my identification card since mine still had my La Marque address!

Holy cow, that's ridiculous! TWO YEARS? I had to get that insurance because I was driving someone else's vehicle that turned out to be insured. It's always a good idea to check that beforehand, I suppose. I only had to have the insurance for a year though. I agree with your comparison to drunk driving. Unreal.

I think it's cute JR got stuff for all you guys for Valentine's Day. =D
