San Antonio and Dallas

Thursday, Logan got to meet his teachers. There will be 18 kids in his class this year. 8 boys and 10 girls. Shocker...Logan is the tallest kid in his class. I got asked twice if he was a September baby or if he was "right on the cusp" I said nope...he won't be 5 until the end of March. Geez, just saying that outloud - my baby boy is going to be 5 in only seven months! Anyway, compared to the other kids...he just looked like such a big kid. He is no longer in that stage between being a toddler and a child - ughhh, this is going by so fast. Anywho, we stayed for nearly 2 hours, Logan played a little with the other kids, but was more content playing with Landry or on his own. This is the whole reason he is going...social skills! He seems to be really excited about the whole "going to school" concept.
After waiting all day for Direct TV to show up - which they never did (pissed), we went to the first Wimberley Texans game of the season. We played Cuero, and won 34-6. Our boys looked really good, although after a game like that I wonder if we are good, or the other team is just really bad? It was hotter than hell out there, so it was pretty miserable. Especially being that hot and chasing kids. I barely even got to watch the game! It was a great start to the season, and hopefully they can keep it up. On the way home, JR does this thing where he doesn't always pay attention while he drives...it drives me crazy - he texts, looks stuff up, or is just worried about the radio station....Wimberley back roads are not a good place to not pay attention. There were several dear, just waiting to get hit, then JR didn't see a racoon run across the road - so yup, we hit it. JR didn't understand why I was upset...but I seriously don't like the idea of being responsible for an animals death...insects are totally different. When we finally made it to the three way stop in Kyle, there was a car in front of us at the stop sign, we were stopping behind them, when JR says, "This car is coming up fast." I look in my side mirror and see a car coming in fast from behind us. All I could think in those short seconds, were my kids. Both sleeping soundly. I remember thinking that if the car hit us, they better hope they die in the wreck, because I will drag their ass out of that car and kill them myself for putting my kids in harms way. Its amazing how many thoughts can go through your mind in such a short amount of time. The car behind us swerved into the oncoming traffic lane, barely missing us at the last second. Then turned left and crashed into a telephone pole. We pulled over and called the cops. JR had to give a statement to the police. We sat there for about an hour...and my head was pounding from all the emergency lights. The driver of the car was okay - she ended up walking to the ambulance. I'm pretty sure she was under the influence of something...not alcohol, but some sort of drug.
Today, JR and Logan are headed to Dallas/Arlington. JR once again won tickets to a Rangers game, so instead of taking a friend, he is going to take Logan. I think they will have a lot of fun. We have finally broken down and JR bought Logan a Nintendo DS today. I understand that JR wants him to have something to occupy him for a four hour bus ride...but it is going to be hell to explain that he can't play on it all day or take it to school...ughhh! While JR and Logan have their day together in the north part of Texas, Landry and I are heading to San Antonio. Vanessa has officially moved in, so we are going to go visit and do some swimming and maybe go down to the river walk for a little bit. Hopefully I can remember my dang camera, since I seem to have forgotten it for the last several outtings we have had!
